Patriots Buccanneers August 16 NFL Preseason

FOX NBC CBS ABC CW
Adults 18-49: rating/Share 1.5/6 1.1/4 0.7/3 0.7/3 0.4/1
Total Viewers (million) 4.687 4.969 4.605 3.093 1.058

NOTE: Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for FOX (Football) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. In addition, there were multiple local market pre-emptions for football on ABC, CBS, NBC and the CW which also likely inflated the ratings. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

FOX was number one in adults 18-49 while NBC was on top  with total viewers.

On FOX, NFL Preseason Football scored a preliminary 1.5  adults 18-49 rating, down 21 percent from a 1.9 fast national for last year’s preseason game 2 on FOX on Thursday, August 16, 2012.

On ABC, 20/20 garnered a 0.9 up 13 percent from last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, Perfect Score returned with a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating down 33 percent from a 0.3 for its most recent episode on Tuesday, July 23.   America's Next Top Model earned a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week.

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    The Neighbors is going to be a big disaster this fall. Shark Tank didnt repeat as well probably due to time change. I hope that loser The Neighbors doesnt bring it down but if Happy Endings didnt, im not too worried.

  • John A

    Wow low Shark Tank repeat. Terrible for The Neighbours as expected. Top Model decent considering the lead in.

  • Dave

    The Carrie Diaries will be doing the same as Perfect Score this fall. I can’t wait to see! :D

  • TVMAN

    And why did ABC renew The Neighbors?? The ratings were already mediocre & there going to bring down Shark Tanks ratings aswell….

  • Brandy

    @Dave, your beloved precious Nikita has done as bad as CD & Perfect Score and Nikita will continue to get 0.2_0.3 so I wouldnt talk.I cant wait for Nikita to hit 0 1,0.0 hopefully!

  • Charmed

    I think TCD will be 0.3-0.4 this season, hopefully enough to get a full season. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was lower, but it has built up some buzz over the summer, so we’ll see how it goes.

  • CS’ Revenge

    It’s already not looking too good for Neighbors on Fridays, bad mistake by ABC getting rid of Malibu Country. This is bad move for Shark Tank’s lead-in which is what ABC should’ve been thinking about. It’s going to bleed heavily out of the stronger LMS.

    This has been a strong preseason quality for the NFL this year as the Pats-Bucos was not a bad game and FOX really promoted their new sports network debuting today. Huge day for sports today especially for NBC as they got the season debut of the Barclays Premier League on the network, Usain Bolt, and Gymnastics later tonight.

    I think Top Model needs to move back to weekdays or cable.

  • DuMont

    At a bare minimum, ‘The Carrie Diaries’ should double up on what ‘Perfect Score’ pulled in last night in the targeted demographics, especially the W18-34s. The CW are wise to hold off its debut until after baseball pre-emptions are over with, and together with ‘ANTM’, the two shows should help lift The CW’s Friday nights in the year-over-yearlies.

  • CS’ Revenge

    Smackdown’s contract is up in September and The CW should go after it again. They really need to plug up their hole on Fridays and just put Top Model, Nikita, and CD on a different night.

  • Dave

    @Brandy

    When Nikita ends, it will have 73 episodes behind it.

    The Carrie Diaries will be lucky to make it past 26. Right now, I’m betting it gets pulled by December in favor of repeats ala Cult.

  • Jiji Moran

    Hmmm… it shows NBC had “Dateline” last night, but here we had a football game instead. I would’ve preferred “Dateline”.

  • davidddd

    antm did ok. perfect score did bad. shark tank low. other preemptions because of preseason games i am thinking.

  • chloe

    Prediction for abc comedies premeire
    LMS 1.9-2.1
    Neighbors 1.4-1.6

  • Alan

    Perfect Score’s second episode wasn’t a repeat. ANTM doing okay, since it’s facing football I expect it to go up later.

  • E.S.

    @Alan:

    I don’t think the ANTM target demo watches NFL and vice versa.

  • SJ

    The Neighbors is gonna bomb on Fridays! :D Looking forward to seeing its episode order cut (and Suburgatory’s expanded).

  • Ultima

    @Alan
    since it’s facing football I expect it to go up later

    :lol:

  • Columbo

    @CS’ Revenge

    I’d doubt WWE would want that because I remember ‘smackdown’ getting preempted seemingly every week in different local markets when it was on CW.

  • James

    CW should bring back Smackdown to Friday and put comedies on Sunday.
