LADY GAGA TO OPEN THE 2013 “MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS”
WITH THE WORLD PREMIERE PERFORMANCE OF HER NEW SMASH SINGLE “APPLAUSE” LIVE FROM BROOKLYN’S BARCLAYS CENTER AT 9PM ET/PT ON AUGUST 25

New York, August 19, 2013 – The 2013 “MTV Video Music Awards” will raise its curtain with a thunderous first act as Lady Gaga (LadyGaga.MTV.com) will open the show with the debut live performance of “Applause,” the first single from her highly anticipated album ARTPOP from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on August 25 at 9pm ET/PT.

From her powerful and bloody rendition of “Paparazzi” to the gender bending, adrenaline fueled version of “You and I,” Lady Gaga is the mastermind behind some of the most memorable VMA performances in recent years.  This year, she’ll continue that legacy with what’s sure to be an Unforgettable performance of “Applause” from her forthcoming album, ARTPOP, available on November 11.
As one of the most talked about and innovative artists of this generation, Lady Gaga has left an indelible mark on the “MTV Video Music Awards” by winning an astounding 13 Moonmen since 2009, including “Best New Artist,” “Video of the Year” for “Bad Romance” as well as “Best Video with a Message” for “Born This Way.”

Additional performers for the 2013 “MTV Video Music Awards” include Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

Move along, there is nothing to see. Unless Applause has been changed from the preview the song just splashes along for 3 minutes without any climax at all.

Let’s just celebrate the fact that Gaga is well and truly back and to her poptastic best. After 100 plays in the last hour or so, I still haven’t OD’d on the addictive, pulsating beats and soaring chorus of her latest single. ‘Applause’ might not be groundbreaking but it’s pop at its best: instant, euphoric, joyful and impossible to get out of your head!

Wow meow, gaga is so 2011. She’s all bit forgotten. Applause is such a poor attempt for her, but it won’t suceed. Katy Perry kicked her to the curb, and her song sucks too. Gaga is so over.
