The ‘CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley’ Posts Year to Year Increases in Viewers and Households for the Week Ending August 16

THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY” POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR INCREASES IN BOTH VIEWERS (+4%) AND HOUSEHOLDS (+5%) FOR THE WEEK ENDING AUGUST 16
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted year-to-year increases in both viewers (5.77m from 5.52m, +4%) and households (3.9/08 from 3.7/08, +5%), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending August 16.
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +250,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. The CBS broadcast also closed the viewer deficit with ABC by nearly 400,000 viewers (from 1.52m to 1.13m) and with NBC by 860,000 viewers (from 2.29m to 1.43m) compared to the same week last year.
Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted increases in both viewers (+7%, 6.46m from 6.06m) and households (+7%, 4.4/09 from 4.1/08). Television year-to-date, the CBS broadcast also maintained its adults 25-54 rating (1.5/06) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – compared to last year.
