In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.7/5 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5 with an encore.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.5/3 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3 with an encore.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

The real winner was Univision, which topped the broadcast networks in the 18-34 demo and came to within one-tenth of a point of topping the broadcast nets int he 18-49 demo as well.

However, I suspect ESPN’s pre-season NFL game (Washington vs. Pittsburgh) likely was the most-watched program of the night in the 18-34 and 18-=49 demos, and probably the second most-watched program of the night among overall viewers (behind only “Under The Dome”).

Those are good numbers for UTD since it is summer program.

  • TV Viewer

Those are good numbers for Under the Dome, since the people of Chester’s Mill are not going to escape from it this year, and will have to wait until season 2 (at least) to get free.

  • NFL saves TW customers

The September 9th episode of UTD will be interesting not just because its the finale its going to likely be the first episode since July 29th where CBS is back on Time Warner stations.

Insiders are saying that the CBS-Time Warner war will end before the first opening weekend of the NFL season which starts September 8th so expect before that weekend that CBS will be back in those cities that lost CBS on Time Warner systems.

People here were blaming The Bachelorette finale & CMA Music Festival for UTD’s decline. I was just stating it did not rebound.

  • Rise

He kicked out the 2 people most likely to survive in a survival situation, the same 2 people who would likely be able to keep up with him on a typical Man Vs Wild episode. How would they not get out alive because he didn’t like their character? LOL

They were completely solid on most tasks. From a guy like Bear Grylls I think that was one of the most pathetic excuses to eliminate a team I have ever seen on a TV show. It turned his show into a train wreck, farcial even. Because of his poor judging.

  • cimmer

Still a ‘good’ rating for UTD but I wonder if people are starting to realize that really, nothing is going to happen or change. I wonder if they will have a heck of a cliff hanger because otherwise I could see this dropping very fast next season if it’s just more of the same.

  • dennis

Brilliant for UTD.. Wil adjust up to a 2.5…. 9 episodes in and still above 10 million viewers… safe to say its the biggest hit of 2013 so far

  • gerry

    @ robert

the jargon isn’t that confusing.. ;)

No adjustment for UTD the show is mediocre at best. The show will level off 2.2 in the next 3 weeks. The Finale will be flat also. People can make excuses for the ratings. I watch the show. The show is to predictable. Junior is the best part of the show. It sucks when a show you like starts to fall fast in the ratings. I am sure the show is heavily DVR.
I can’t wait for Revolution, hope it maintains 2.0/2.2 in it’s new time slot. Heck even a 1.8 for NBC is good.

People give Revolution sh#t for the writing and story lines.

Mistresses needs to be canceled. I watched the first few episodes of it and could never get into it. The characters stunk. The only half way decent one was the asian character and even that was falling a little flat. Love you Alyssa but that was not cutting it.
