LEON PUTS ITS UNDEFEATED SEASON ON THE LINE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT ON TELEMUNDO HOSTING MONTERREY AT 9PM/8C

MIAMI – AUGUST 21, 2013-   Leon has started the Mexican League strong and puts its undefeated record on the line this Saturday, August 24 at 9PM/8C/6P when it hosts Monterrey, the squad coached by former Leon manager Victor Manuel Vucetich. Leon won their last league title under Vucetich in the early 90’s. The former manager returns to Estadio Leon more than 20 years later to challenge his former team. Andrés Cantor will be in charge of the play-by-play alongside Sammy Sadovnik, who will provide his analysis and commentary during a match that could be key for the playoff aspirations of both squads. This match can also be enjoyed online or on-the-go, by visiting deportestelemundo.com or using the Deportes Telemundo mobile phone app on smartphones to live stream the match.

Leon is coming off a 1-1 draw on the road against Pumas and is one of just four teams that  currently have yet to experience a loss in the Mexican League (Veracruz, Santos and America are the other three). This unbeaten run also extends to last season’s last seven matches, turning itself into a 13 match undefeated streak. Their opponent this Saturday night is one that they have come to dominate over the years, since Monterrey hasn’t been able to win at Leon’s “Nou Camp” in its last four visits and hasn’t won away from home yet during this tournament either.

This clash will feature an additional, emotional ingredient with the presence of Victor Manuel Vucetich, someone that managed to leave his indelible imprint on Leon’s history. Vucetich not only started out his managerial career at Leon, but he also obtained the promotion to the First Division. Later on, Vucetich’s squad became champions of the Mexican League in the 1991-92 season after defeating Puebla in overtime to claim the team’s fifth (and last) title in one of Leon’s most memorable matches ever
