ABC’S “NIGHTLINE” POSTS WEEK-TO-WEEK GAINS IN TOTAL VIEWERS, ADULTS 25-54 AND ADULTS 18-49 TO HIT 7-WEEK HIGHS

On Average in New Time Period, “Nightline” Continues to Grow Year-to-Year in Total Viewers and Outperforms CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in All Key Target Demos

ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.397 million Total Viewers, 604,000 Adults 25-54 and 452,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of August 12, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research.  “Nightline” outperformed CBS’ “The Late Late Show” in Total Viewers (+183,000), Adults 25-54 (+74,000) and Adults 18-49 (+49,000).

For the 2nd straight week, “Nightline” posted week-to-week gains (1.369 million, 556,000, and 440,000, respectively, on w/o 8/5/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+2%), Adults 25-54 (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+3%) to hit 7-week highs – since w/o 6/24/13.

On average in its new time period, “Nightline” has improved ABC’s performance compared to the same weeks last year in Total Viewers (+4%).  In addition, “Nightline” leads CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” across the board: Total Viewers (+140,000), Adults 25-54 (+23,000) and Adults 18-49 (+4,000).

During the week of August 12th, “Nightline” traveled to the birthplace of democracy to meet the fastest-growing far-right party in Greece; reported on the heated custody battle between Usher and ex-wife Tameka; and explored the secrets to living a longer, healthier life.

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Dan Abrams and Bill Weir. Juju Chang is a correspondent. Jeanmarie Condon is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35 a.m., ET to 1:00 a.m. on the ABC Television Network.  Together with “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Nightline” is part of ABC’s winning late night strategy of airing news and entertainment programming.
