Happily Divorced has been canceled after two seasons on TV Land, according to Deadline.

Why TVLand? That was a really good show.

  • Mike

Yes it was a good tv show, and The Exes who gets the same ratings as Happily Divorced did get renewed, does not make sense.
And let’s face it, tvland had a better shot at good syndication money with a Fran Drescher show then a Kirsten Johnston show if it ever reached the number of episodes needed for syndication sales.

Kind of surprised, I thought TV Land would give this another show, I thought it was doing well. So now they just have Hot & Cleveland, The Exes (Both of which should be around for a while) and The Soul Man which will probably be cancelled after its current season. Hopefully their 2 comedies in development do well.

In other cable shows my guess is that USA’s Necessary Roughness and TNT’s Franklin & Bash will be cancelled after 3 seasons. While freshman Graceland (USA) and King & Maxwell (TNT) will both see second seasons.

Both cable networks are in a position where they have too many well performing shows (USA’s Psych, Royal Pains, White Collar, Covert Affairs, Suits) and (TNT’s Dallas, Major Crimes, Perception, Falling Skies, Rizzoli & Isles) that will continue into next year. As well as one freshman drama a piece and one bubble dramedy. Its likely that both networks dump their low rated third season shows and give a second chance to their first year dramas.

Oh no i really loved that show, I love love Fran she is the best . Why TV Land this is the third time this month you have disapointed me what the heck is going on there are other shows on there that suck to high hell get rid of them. Especially Hot and Cold in Cleveland, that started out good but it sucks now. Booo for you all.

    Wow this is shocking.

  • Well

The writing was bad. They recycled jokes from The Nanny, and the whole thing just seemed forced.

  • Morgan Wick

You could say TV Land… divorced the show.

I could have sworn there was a video posted on Facebook some time ago that the cast received word that it was picked up for a third season. Guess it was faulty (or dated?) , or TV Land changed its mind. Ah well- the jokes were very predictable, but it was a cute, harmless show.

    Bad move,hello cw.

Wow, I’m actually quite surprised by this…

  • Max

wow surprised i actually liked this as mindless entertainment

  • Michael

I’m kinda surprised by this. Since, all the shows are TVland pretty much are not all that far off in the ratings department; rate pretty close.

  • Carl

My guess is that there is some behind the scenes reason why this got cancelled and The Exes didn’t. Maybe trouble with the cast or writers, or maybe the financials don’t work with this show like they do with their other shows.

  • Nick

This was a bad show. They were trying too hard to replicate The Nanny, imo.

The Exes is the only good show they have left. Even Hot in Cleveland is starting to feel tired and beyond it’s peak. The storylines are just way too out there sometimes. They ditched their original concept way too quickly and now it’s like a completely different show.

I was really optimistic that TV Land would bring back the Multi-Cam as a niche but I guess today’s audience is too cynical for over the top theatrics in front of a live audience. This is the same reason why Broadway is dying and resorting to gimmicks.

Happily Divorced was not very good. Fran Drescher should have just revived the nanny instead. It was doomed. Not a good show at all.

  • Azzman

I liked the show, esp getting to drool over Fran’s ever expanding butt! Wish it had come back.. :(

Wow….What a shock!! This was a great form of escapism for me. This was a funny show. Maybe it wasn’t a laugh out loud kind of funny, but many of the jokes and antics made me smile. I will miss it. I don’t watch any other original programming from Tvland.

I am disappointed to see that the show has been cancelled. I thought it was pretty good show with a good share of laughs and I was looking forward to its return. I will definitely miss it.

I tried really hard to like it, but it just seemed forced. Fran Drescher trying really hard to turn real life public humiliation into comedy wasn’t that funny. Just my opinion.
