THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY” POSTS A YEAR-TO-YEAR INCREASE IN VIEWERS (+6%) FOR THE WEEK ENDING AUGUST 30
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted a year-to-year increase in viewers (6.32m from 5.95m, +6%), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending August 30.
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +370,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. The CBS broadcast also closed the viewer deficit with ABC by nearly half a million viewers (from 1.27m to 780,000) and with NBC by 640,000 viewers (from 1.94m to 1.30m) compared to the same week last year.
Editor’s Note: The year-ago comparison represents a three-day average (Monday-Wednesday). The same week last year, the CBS broadcast aired under an “amended” title on Thursday due to NFL pre-season football coverage and Friday due to U.S. Open tennis coverage.
Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted increases in both viewers (+7%, 6.45m from 6.05m) and households (+7%, 4.4/09 from 4.1/08). Television year-to-date, the CBS broadcast also maintained its adults 25-54(1.5/06) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – compared to last year.
