HOLLYWOOD MAYOR BOBER AND BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSIONER LAMARCA HONOR TELEMUNDO MEDIA AT STAR-STUDDED WRAP OF PRODUCTION OF TELEMUNDO’S ORIGINAL NOVELA ‘MARIDO EN ALQUILER’
TELEMUNDO ORIGINAL NOVELA FILMED 1400 HOURS WITH 40 ACTORS AND 3500 EXTRAS OVER 100 DAYS IN BROWARD AREA
MIAMI – September 4, 2013 – Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober and Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca joined Telemundo Media’s President Emilio Romano and the network’s top executives and celebrities at last night’s wrap party for Telemundo’s prime time original novela “Marido en Alquiler” (Husband for Hire), which airs Monday through Friday at 9PM/8C, at the Westin Diplomat hotel in Hallandale, FL. Hosted by the Browardof Film & Entertainment, the star studded-event was attended by hundreds of guests including the novela’s stars Sonya Smith, Juan Soler and Maritza Rodriguez. The stars and guests walked the red carpet and Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober, Telemundo Media’s President Emilio Romano, Joshua Mintz and Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Film & Entertainment Commissioner Noelle P. Stevenson provided remarks and presentations throughout the event. Mayor Bober honored Telemundo with the key to Broward County in recognition of the network’s consistent investments in original scripted productions in Broward County.
“Marido en Alquiler,” the second co-production of Telemundo and Brazil’s media giant Globo, filmed from February 19, 2013 to September 5, 2013, and filmed over 100 days across different locations in Broward. To date, they have produced over 1400 hours, with 40 actors and 3500 extras. The novela will also internationally distributed, which has positioned Telemundo as the second largest provider of Spanish-language content worldwide by syndicating content to more than 100 countries in over 35 languages.

“Marido en Alquiler" tells the story of Griselda (Smith), a kind and determined woman who works as a handyman to support her three children. Due to life circumstances, she meets Reinaldo (Soler), an honest man and chef who becomes delighted with Griselda’s essence. This will be the reason why Reinaldo’s wife, Teresa Cristina (Rodríguez), an elegant, class-conscious and superficial woman, will get jealous and will do anything possible to destroy her, especially when she realizes she is losing her husband.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale/Browardof Film & Entertainment has been housed at the Convention and Visitors Bureau since April 2010. Within that time period, more than $462.2 million has been spent by the industry in Broward County with over 1,795 production projects. This has in turn produced a total of 64,084 jobs in the marketplace. As these efforts in film continue to grow, the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s office of Film & Entertainment has launched its new initiatives promoting Greater Fort Lauderdale as a key entertainment destination focusing on music, arts, and fashion including mainstream and LGBT film festivals, as well as music events.
The three leads of “Marido en Alquiler” are joined by a stellar cast that includes talented young actors Roberto Manrique, Gabriel Coronel and Kimberly Dos Ramos.
