CBS NEWS’ “FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER” FINISHES FIRST IN ADULTS 25-54 (TIED) ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 1

 

“FACE THE NATION” IS UP +17% IN BOTH VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54 AND UP +19% IN HOUSEHOLDS COMPARED TO LAST YEAR

 

TELEVISION YEAR-TO-DATE, “FACE THE NATION” IS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING PUBLIC AFFAIRS SHOW

 

CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER finished first in adults 25-54 (tied with NBC) on Sunday, Sept. 1. The CBS broadcast posted 2.63m viewers, 0.7/04 in adults 25-54 and 1.9/05 in households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION was a half-hour broadcast on Sept. 1 due to coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

 

Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +17% in both viewers (from 2.25m) and adults 25-54 (from 0.6/03) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in News – and up +19% in households (from 1.6/05).

 

Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show, placing first in viewers, adults 25-54 (tied with NBC) and households. Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +8% in viewers (3.07m from 2.85m), +10% in households (2.2/06 from 2.0/06) and even in adults 25-54 (0.7/03) compared to last year.

 

On the broadcast, CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett substituted for Bob Schieffer and interviewed Secretary of State John Kerry, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA). CBS News Correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reported the latest on the situation in Syria from its capital city of Damascus.

 

FACE THE NATION is broadcast on Sundays at 10:30 AM, ET (check local listings) on the CBS Television Network. Mary Hager is the Executive Producer. FACE THE NATION is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television. It premiered on CBS on Nov. 7, 1954. The program broadcasts from Washington, D.C., where Schieffer has spent more than 40 years covering government and politics. He has anchored FACE THE NATION since 1991. Guests include government leaders, politicians and global figures in the news.
