GH, another week up and look at that HH RATING. 2.1/7! Good to see all soaps up.

  • Mike

This was the last week of the CBS/Time Warner blackout. Great to see the CBS soaps back up.

And esp. with B&B being up a lot in Total Viewers.

  • jupiter3765

someone please explain why soap fans praise their soaps but talk so negative about talk shows for example katie and the chew are very close to what gh is currently pulling in terms of ratings but everyone has something negative to say about those shows and when a talk show is down or doing poorly in the ratings they are happy and say hell yes but when their favorite soap opera is down in the ratings they say that its only because of the outdated nelisen

I can not understand why Days has dropped in ratings. It has been a little bit slow the last couple of weeks, but it has kept my interest. Maybe now that summer is over and people are back to work and back to normal habits, they will return to their family at Days. I always said Days should come up with a shocking storyline to capture new viewers, and they have with the Will gay story, but ratings still stayed low. Sadly all the soaps are basically on life support. What can they do to increase viewers. Adding a returning favourite or guest star does not increase viewers anymore. Bringing in old favourites does not do it anymore. As for Days I know they are trying their best but they have also got to step it up and do something different that would lure viewers in. In my part of the world the local affiliate dropped the last hour of the Today show to air Live in D a Detroit show paid and produced by the local affiliate. Days is still on at 1pm and the Live in D follows it. Come on NBC please give Days an injection of life and excitement that would bring it to the top of the ratings. Yes your primetime schedule needs help, but so do the loyal viewers and family of Days.

Glad to see GH up.Its got a battle being on ABC.Hate what NBC local stations are doing to Days.Salt Lake now has moved it to.This could be hurting Days.Don’t know why these locals are doing this.A lot of rumors are religious beliefs from the owners. If its true hope people contact those stations.Congrats to all soaps gaining.

  • Mike

There is only one station that moved Days that could possible have anything to do with religious beliefs and that is the one in Salt Lake. If that was the case they would just drop Days altogether. But they didn’t they still have it on the lineup just moved to the wee hours of the morning.

Two other stations moved it to Noon where it now goes up against different competition.

Days is just airing all over the place across the country now.

As to my other statement about the last week of the TWC blackout with the ratings. I am not sure about that. The deal was reached on the 3rd but did the CBS stations return that week or the next. If it was the next week we may have one more week of ratings for the blackout.

Either way for part of it the CBS soaps were down and this week during the blackout the CBS soaps were up. So still no definitive answer to whether the blackout hurt them or not. It definitely didn’t hurt them for this weeks ratings.

  • Derrick

I’m glad CBS is back up in the ratings and look for Y&R to go up EVEN MORE because Katherine’s memorial was beautifully written………………

Hopefully DAYS will continue to rise

  • moshane58

Mike Las Vegas moved it to The CW…Apparently the station owner wanted more news and doesn’t think soaps fit into his belielfs. This was on News Feed three weeks ago…Just reporting what I read…

  • Bexx

Nice job CBS! I agree about Katherine’s memorial, it was beautiful.

well, I am one of those who was a loyal DAYS viewer until they started the Will gay story, some of you will villify me, but I found it offensive and I’m obviously not the only one.

  • TimsDale4ever

Looks like a pretty good week for all the shows with a lot of pluses. Even the few minuses aren’t that large. Looking for Y&R to go up even further with next week’s ratings reflecting Katherine’s memorial episodes on the 3rd and 4th.

  • Lynn

Why isn’t the headline here about B&B’s big rating’s jump? They added almost twice as many viewers last week as Y&R did. Methinks since Sara Bibel once wrote for Y&R, there’s a little favoritism going on here. Also, B&B was up by larger number in the 18-49 demo, but Y&R gets the headline? Come on, Bibel. Let’s play fair here. As for Katherine’s memorial service: horrific. Boring direction, writing, performances. Jeanne Cooper deserved so much better, as did the character of Katherine. Jill Farren Phelps continues to take this show in the wrong direction. Dump her.

  • diana

and it’s not because they had a gay storyline, it’s because it was so heavy-handed and preachy. If you’re not 100% in favor of Will being gay, then you’re a hateful bigot. Also, they got rid of Jack and Lucas. No reason for me to watch now.

  • Brian

No Days rating suck because the show is boring!!!

  • frank

GH has really been interesting lately due to better overall writing. Last Friday Sept 13 was especially well done and acted. Will miss Kelly!!

  • Marissa

GH really has been strong lately. I’m not happy to see Franco back on the screen – at all. I just don’t think that story is working.

Fingers crossed that GH can maintain this momentum!

  • opinion8d

DAYS needs to spice it up! They need to find some new, exciting acting partners for Deidre Hall(Marlena) and Kristian Alfonso(Hope). Don’t leave these wonderful actresses “withering on the vine” because Drake Hogestyn and Peter Reckell are no longer on the scene! They both deserve an exciting, front burner story! DAYS should learn from B&B. That show lost three of their longtime vets (Susan Flannery, Ronn Moss and Hunter Tylo) but have still managed to climb even higher in the ratings. Just because a show is missing longtime veterans shouldn’t mean the producers and writers can’t bring new and exciting things to the table! Move on! Also, DAYS needs to get Sami out of jail. That story has appeared to have fallen flat with viewers. We want steamy EJ and Sami scenes where they are showing their passion for each other and turning Salem on its ear, not being separated by a jail cell. Although I’m liking the Jennifer and JJ dynamic, the pairing of Daniel and Jennifer just isn’t working! They are neither fun nor exciting to watch, just a bunch of incessant whining and it’s getting very tiresome! End it now! Here’s hoping DAYS will turn it around soon!

  • Mike

Moshane, I never read any stories about the Las Vegas move being due to beliefs other than the man has the belief that news will sell better in that area. He is even getting rid of the talk show The Doctors when their contract runs out. He wants to replace it with news too.

Which from some articles I read several years ago it would not surprise me that Days does not do too well in that area. Years ago one of the magazines reported that Days did better in the south and mid-west than it does in other parts of the country.

  • jonboyelk

I must admit I wasn’t too thrilled with the Katherine Chancellor memorial either. The old flashbacks made me want to view those old 70s episodes but the tributes were less than I expected. And Jess Walton was just plain horrible!

  • PatF

This is the last week with ratings that will be impacted by the blackout.

    It ended on the 2nd.

The ratings that come out next Friday or so will be the episodes of Kay’s memorial, but the show wasn’t on either Monday or Friday.

It’ll be interesting to see what type (if any) of increase those show.

Today’s episode was very good as well, so the show has some momentum going.
