Jonboy, I have given up on OLTL on OWN too. I just cannot get into it. But I really like AMC. But if it wasn’t on OWN I would not continue. I have no way to hook my computer to the TV, can’t afford Hulu Plus, and just don’t like to watch online.

I can watch YouTube videos through my WII but so many of the shows are being taken off YouTube by the networks — and they should be — but it was always a nice way to watch. But it takes views away from the online official sites so I can see why they are pulling them.

  • Jude

    I am loving GH;DOOL; B&B; hate y&r so boring

  • Bexx

Funny how Joey hasn’t been on the board, yet as soon as Nick says a few words to Sean he turns up to reprimand him. For someone who is supposedly over the board drama he sure does make it his business to jump right in the middle of things. Control freaks can’t help themselves I guess.

  • Chrisann D

Bexx, Joey wasn’t the only one saying anything to Nick. I just think its funny how someone has a problem with someone else who never trashes anyones views shows or opinions. He just likes to show his support for GH and people have to try telling him how to post. Just saying…..

  • jonboyelk

In my opinion since these online shows have a season with a limited amount if episodes it should be written like those Spanish novellas. In the 20-odd episodes of OLTL I watched I never saw a front burner story, just a lot of people running around doing their daily grind.

  • Mike

That was my problem with OLTL too. I kept thinking what was the story supposed to be.

Part of that was of course PP’s decision making process. Start out with writers writing for what they thought were 4 episodes a week which got cut to 2. Then new writers were brought in.

They were still supposed to produce so many episodes a year with no break. And then all of a sudden you find out your writing a season finale that was supposed to never happen.

Plus throw in there them violating their union contract and stopping production.

It’s kind of hard to write a show when you don’t know what the true game plan is going to be.

  • Jeff

Loving GH myself again these days. And, it is the best ABC Daytime has, and I think ABC Daytime should be using the brand name recognition to increase profitability and revenue stream, but it would require intelligent leadership, which I think we can all agree, ABC does not possess. Better than good old piece of crap Fronsie, but still not great by any stretch.

I also agree Sean can say what he wants about GH when he wants. It also wears very thin to criticize other people’s opinions. Newsflash, people’s personal opinions are never wrong. Facts can be wrong. Opinions are opinions!

  • MBmomof3

I’m enjoying GH, DOOL and Y&R in that order. All 3 have a few good storylines and one or 2 stinkers. Right now, GH has the most overall compelling storylines IMO. Some characters I could do without, but mostly pretty entertaining.

I watched OLTL on HULU and am enjoying the reruns on OWN. I’m finding that TV viewing is much more enjoyable than watching on my PC or tablet. I’m also enjoying “classic” OLTL on Soapnet. The Fraternity Row storyline is my fave, but it reminds me just how excellent that show was as it drew closer to its end run on ABC. Obviously I love OLTL more than I should.

Great to see the soap ratings up!

    Re: OLTL on OWN.

I noticed that OWN aired the same episode of OLTL on both Sept. 9 and 10. OWN did the same thing with AMC a couple of weeks ago and simply skipped the episode that should have aired bu didn’t. I assume that OWN did the same thing with OLTL. I don’t know if OWN is skipping episodes deliberately or if it was a mistake. If it was a mistake, it calls into question if the inmates are running the asylum over at OWN.

There has been so much confusion over some of those episodes. Someone even commented on some site about one of the actors saying they were re-editing scenes beyond just cutting out bad words or scenes they felt were too hot for TV. Time restraints or something.

Who knows whether all of this is OWN or PP?

I know many fans are still blaming OWN about the lack of promotion. I don’t just blame OWN but also blame PP. This deal working was a whole lot more important to PP. I would have been buy ads everywhere to announced those shows were back.

I don’t buy the soap mags and never see them except for what people post from them online from time to time. But I read that PP has hardly even bought ads in the mags either for the online show or it being back on OWN.

I am personally beginning to believe more in the rumors that PP has run low on money or out of money and the only connection the lawsuit really has to OLTL being shelved is they need the money to continue.

PP should have hired a PR person and been promoting these shows big times. Press releases everywhere.

I know I’m a few days behind but when I saw Sonny yesterday contemplating turning the gun on himself I was hopeful…..

  • Chrisann D

Jonboy, Sooo funny I was thinking the same thing.

  • TimsDale4ever

Yesterday’s episode of Y&R was just so good I had to come back and comment on it. The reading of Katherine’s will, along with a lot of the characters fantasizing about how much and what they would get, and then Jill not really getting anything to her satisfaction. Also enjoying Nikki’s new story. Although it’s an old soap opera plot finding out you have a grown child, at least it’s a new story for her (as well as a vet). The best part of all?????? No Adam, no Chelsea, no Dylan, and no Avery, or at the very least, just so little of them that I didn’t notice. It actually felt like I was watching Y&R again – unlike whatever that other show is that will probably continue today…

  • JayTN

Mike…I have noticed on some AMC and OLTL episodes that it seems a scene begins rather abruptly, as if part of the scene has been cut out. I know that the controversial AMC scene involving “The Price is Right” male model Rob Wilson and an orgasm was partially cut from the episode that aired on OWN. I only know this because I watched the scene on You Tube to see what all the fuss was over the alleged “controversial” scene…otherwise I have not scene AMC and OLTL outside of OWN, so I have no way of confirming that edits or cuts have been made, but I assume there have been more cuts than just that particular risque scene.

  • TimsDale4ever

Wow, the new writing for Y&R will show up the week of 10/21. I’m happy and nervous all at the same time. My favorite soap of all time, ATWT, was — for me — unwatchable under Pasaintant (I don’t know how to spell it). Too many new characters and most of them teens, which for me is the DEATH of a soap opera.

I suspect what I don’t like about Y&R is really coming from Phelps though, and not the head writer(s) so I really don’t see where the show will change.

  • JayTN

I have no idea what “unk” is talking about. I typically don’t talk about the quality of a soap and the only thing I have said about Y&R in terms of quality is that I don’t understand the Jill Farren Phelps hate, as I don’t really dislike any of the changes she has made.

Secondly, I don’t need anyone to apologize on my behalf. I don’t remember “brow beating” or “bullying” anyone in any discussions about the quality – or lack thereof – of Y&R. I vaguely remember someone using the name “shoynna” but I don’t recall having any bullying talks with him or her. I say “him or her” because I have no way of verifying this persons’ gender.

Lastly, quality is an opinion, not a fact. Something I find of poor quality can be held in high regard by someone else, and vice versa. Saying that someone if right for saying that Y&R is “one big giant mess” doesn’t mean that it is in fact “one big giant mess”. You will always have people who are not happy with something, in this case a television soap opera. Just because you disagree with someone’s opinion doesn’t make that person’s opinion anymore right or wrong than your own.

Again, I do not have a spokesperson, so “unk” is not now, nor ever, speaking on my behalf whether it is to issue an apology or anything else. That’s all I have to say.

I am assuming that Phelps wanted Passanante (or as fans have called her Pissanante) because she is a yes man. She basically follows the agenda of what the EP wants esp. with Chris Goutman at ATWT.

I don’t hate everything Phelps has done at Y&R, but I don’t want her to get full power over the show either. That was the big problem with the last two regimes is the one person had too much control.

Even at his highest level of influence with Y&R William J. Bell always had a strong Executive Producer to control the business end of the show. And he controlled the writing. I think only he and John Conboy ever butted heads and ultimately Conboy was out but they worked together successfully for many years.

  • JayTN

It seems out resident trouble maker has returned with yet another new alias, and another new alias to ignore.

I don’t really care if I’m in the minority or the majority over something as trivial as whether a soap opera is good or not. I’m not going to lose a bit of sleep over being in the minority on the subject.

I don’t verify a person’s gender. I generally refer to them by the name that they use to write a post or use gender neutral words such as “they”. I never admitted to calling anyone a he when they are a she or vice versa. I don’t see how I could admit to it, in this instance, as I don’t even recall the incident you are obsessed with (It probably never happened, or if it did, is being blown out of proportion due to your “offensive” fascination with me).

You seem determined to start some sort of argument over statements that likely never occurred, at least on my part. However, you are going to be arguing with yourself. I replied to your post since my name and allegations were made about my behavior. I defended myself and that post will speak for itself on the matter, as I will make no further comments on it, or to you. (Hopefully the moderators will soon delete your messages, which will make the post meaningless.)

  • JayTN

Thank you to the moderators for removing the posts from “unk”. Everyone please disregard my previous two posts, as they do not make any sense without those deleted messages.

For the first time in a long time, ABC has issued a press release about GH. Giving a sneak peak at the ratings for September 2, ABC says that GH hit a two year high in Women 18-49 & 25-54, a 10 month high in W18-34 and a 5 month high in total viewers (2.75 million viewers).

“Thank you to the moderators for removing the posts from “unk”. “

To be clear, “unk” is gone not for being “offensive”, which we don’t police, but for being a sock puppet.
