NOTE: Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for  NBC & FOX (NFL Football) as well as CBS (US Open Tennis) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers.

NBC was number one among adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On NBC the season opener of Sunday Night Football, which featured a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants  earned a 9.1 adults 18-49 rating from 8:30-11PM, down  from last year's Game #1 fast nationals (which earned a 9.8 from 8:30-11 and featured Pittsburgh at Denver). We have more data on last night's football ratings here.

On CBS Big Brother scored a 1.9, up a tenth from last week's 1.8  adults 18-49 rating. The summer season finale of Unforgettable garnered a series low 0.9, down a tenth from last week's series low 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, the season finale of Secret Millionaire earned a 1.1, up three tenths from last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

F the simpsons. They arr stealing good ratings. They don’t deserve to follow football. Should be family guy.

The thing about had Elissa and Amanda still been In the house people would have said it was rigged. Since there gone that notion is over. Judd will exit again. I hops McRae wins actually is that weird? He’s so much tolerable without the bully wench.

Was there a part about the jury house on last night’s Big Brother? I will watch the part online if there was.

  • Tony JJ

No. They haven’t shown any of the jury house since the jury played to get back in.

  • RJ

no jury house, all about judd.

  • AllOfHerTwist

I’m waiting for final numbers. Go Poppy!

  • Parker Wyeth

Didn’t know when to try to watch Unforgettable since it came on 50 minutes late because of tennis.
Next week’s schedule starts 30 mins. later because of Broncos/Giants game.

  • One

Poppy’s backside was the only thing Unforgettable ever had going for it. Once they downplayed that, it was game over.

    Remember that, gentlemen.

  • John A

Unforgettable was very lucky to be renewed. Fans were lucky to get 2nd season.

  • Ultima

On what channel is US open man finale in US today? If is on cbs expect big delay.

It’s on CBS at 5p EDT. It’s hard to estimate how long the match will go, but if it’s close, chances are that it will run into primetime, possibly by more than an hour.

Even female finale wirh Serena was 3 hours.

Yes, but that was also the longest U.S. Open women’s final since they started tracking the length in 1980.

  • Ultima

    @Parker Wyeth
Next week’s schedule starts 30 mins. later because of Broncos/Giants game.

Next week’s schedule starts a minimum of 30 minutes late in the east and central time zones.

The actual start times of CBS’ primetime lineup can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes late.

  • Parker Wyeth

You’re right. Or longer. But, it’s actually built into next week’s schedule.Shows 60 Minutes starting on the half hour(6:30pm) instead of on the hour(6 pm my time).

  • HalCapone

The Fall television season has officially begun. It’s amazing how the spell cast by the NFL draws viewers back from summer activities (not involving television viewing) and forces them against their own will to begin that annual, lengthy period of slothful hibernation in front of their television sets to actually watch something live. And the magic of NFL overruns creates some miraculous and unjustifiable ratings in the process. Pass the cheetos.

  • Max Vrany

@Petar/Ultima, your local station may put the Men’s Final on a subchannel/alternate channel (mine is*), so check your listings. If the final overruns into primetime, ET/CT stations that move the final will join it in progress at the start of primetime. (I’m not sure whether CBS is producing a CBS Evening News tonight, and what will air during that window if they don’t.)

*Since CBS is framing the US Open coverage for 16:9, and since WISC is putting it on TVW (3.2), which is 4:3 SD, they can expect some complaints.

Looks like football will rule the roost this Fall.

  • charmedcraft

anyone else being accused of being a spambot when trying to post?

  • BigBrotherFan

Indeed Andy was a disgusting vile human being. I’m pretty surprised he turned into the houseguest I hate the absolute most because dude some relatively cool the first few weeks THEN again maybe that has to do with the racist crop of idiots that got booted in the first 5 weeks.

I’m going to miss Elissa who knew I fall for that plastic cutie and all of America too! :)
