NOTE: Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for  NBC & FOX (NFL Football) as well as CBS (US Open Tennis) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers.

NBC was number one among adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On NBC the season opener of Sunday Night Football, which featured a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants  earned a 9.1 adults 18-49 rating from 8:30-11PM, down  from last year's Game #1 fast nationals (which earned a 9.8 from 8:30-11 and featured Pittsburgh at Denver). We have more data on last night's football ratings here.

On CBS Big Brother scored a 1.9, up a tenth from last week's 1.8  adults 18-49 rating. The summer season finale of Unforgettable garnered a series low 0.9, down a tenth from last week's series low 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, the season finale of Secret Millionaire earned a 1.1, up three tenths from last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

“anyone else being accused of being a spambot when trying to post?”

We are aware of the situation.

  • CBSviewer

A 2.9 for The Simpsons is higher than some episodes from last season. FOX would be stupid to end the Show !

  • BigBrotherFan

    One

Pretty much the only reason I watched this season! haha

“A 2.9 for The Simpsons is higher than some episodes from last season. FOX would be stupid to end the Show!”

Just about any show with that lead-in could pull about the same rating.

  • Brian

How can CBS even count those ratings as serious when they ran over with everything all night, people are not gonna wait all night to watch a show..IDIOTS @CBS!
    UNFORGETTABLE DESERVES ANOTHER SEASON!

  • redbirds

    @cbsviewer

    you’re an idiot.

  • bluejoni

People you CAN’T compare Big Brother Thurs with BB Sun !! BB Sun is ALWAYS lower LOVE this show

  • Ultima

    @Brian
How can CBS even count those ratings as serious when they ran over with everything all night, people are not gonna wait all night to watch a show..

Sports overruns typically don’t have a negative impact on the ratings for CBS’ Sunday lineup except for the 10pm show which gets pushed out of primetime.

    IDIOTS @CBS!

Think that if you want, but it won’t change anything. Sports overruns are the standard for CBS Sundays and they have no reason to change.

“Unforgettable” deserves more air time. Last night’s numbers could have been thrown by the late start. Thenshow started at 9:51!!! I programmed the dvr for the 9 and 10 o’clock hours so as not to lose the ending.

  • CBSviewer

    @ Redbirds

    you’re an idiot

I was just saying a 2.9 for a repeat is awesome and the new episodes will get huge ratings. The Simpsons is one of the most profitable Show on TV and that’s why it’ll be Renewed ;)
So shut up and get a Life instead of insulting people for no reason !

  • ph

I liked the episode of “Unforgettable.” I’m hoping the winter run will be in a good time slot and more people will watch.

  • forg

anyone else being accused of being a spambot when trying to post?

*raises hand* My IP address at home was even blocked that’s why I rarely comment here anymore :(

  • jp

I thought the Sunday Night game would get a 25 million but 23 is pretty good. The FOX lineup had a good lead in in the East and Central time zone.

  • AppleStinx

Spambots be very afraid, Bill Gorman is in charge.

  • alffan

I don’t know why everyone liked Elissa. I was never a Rachel fan and the only reason she was even there (and took up a spot) is because she was Rachel’s sister. I actually got to like her better, but she tried to turn and work with Amanda and that ticked me off.

I don’t know why people hate Judd. He kind of got backdoored but he earned his way back in. I’m sort of turning into working for him.

Andy lied to a lot of people IMHO. I would’ve been rooting for McRae but that Amanda is a psycho.

I do agree that there’s been too much racism, bigotry, et al, but it’s been a very good season. I’m sorry Helen is gone, she was my favorite player and they knew she was good. She may have been sneaky but not vile.

As much as Ginamarie made some big racist comments early, I’ve really gotten to like her … Unlike Aaryn, I believe when she finds out what happened, she will act much differently. I agree those things were over the line but I think we’re like figuring out who’s the lesser of four evils.

And, let’s give Spencer props – seven times on the block and the guy is still standing.

Even with the ratings adjustment explanation page, trying to figure these things out gives me a headache and I know trying to figure the effects of overruns can often be folly but maybe someone can help me.

If CBS was running behind and the higher rated BB aired into Unforgettable’s slot odes that mean Unforgettable’s 0.9 is probably going to be lower in the finals?
Thanks in advance to Ultima or anyone else who has the answer.

General question for those out there. Is there anybody out there who does not think Unforgettable is toast?
When do you think the final five episodes will air? Saturday burnoff? Winter/Holiday hiatus? or Plugged in in the event of catastrophic show failure?

There would seem to be no reason to announce cancelation now with 5 episodes on the table but when do you think they do? Or will they just do so with their silence?

Just curious since this show defied the index and surprised so many of us by being that rarest of rare thing, an uncanceled show. Perhaps the experience with Jericho and Unforgettable will help convince the delusional about these “Save our Show” efforts? Nevermind the answer is no :-)

I actually got to like her better, but she tried to turn and work with Amanda and that ticked me off.

I think she realized that would be her only hope of staying at that point.

As much as Ginamarie made some big racist comments early, I’ve really gotten to like her

Ginamarie is still saying bad things. Something about Elissa’s son.

Still pretty good ratings for BB over all.

    :D

If CBS was running behind and the higher rated BB aired into Unforgettable’s slot odes that mean Unforgettable’s 0.9 is probably going to be lower in the finals?

The 10pm hour in the fast nationals is comprised of 52 minutues of Unforgettable and 8 minutes of The Mentalist in the Eastern/Central time zones (~75%) and entirely The Mentalist in the west.

Since Unforgettable typically outperforms The Mentalist, it’s safe to assume that Unforgettable will be adjusted up in the finals.

Big Brother will also adjust up, perhaps by several tenths.

Is there anybody out there who does not think Unforgettable is toast?

Most summer dramas get canceled. Under the Dome being renewed probably doesn’t help. If it isn’t already dead, then it will depend on the show’s cost and CBS’ needs for next summer.

When do you think the final five episodes will air? Saturday burnoff? Winter/Holiday hiatus? or Plugged in in the event of catastrophic show failure?

Aren’t there six episodes left? Anyways, if Hostages is DOA, they might bring it back right away (i.e. November) to fill that hole (or move Five-0 back and put Unforgettable on Friday). Otherwise, probably either Saturdays or on Friday during January/February.

There would seem to be no reason to announce cancelation now with 5 episodes on the table but when do you think they do?

Unlike the regular season, there’s nothing compelling the networks to make quick decisions with summer shows. It could take months for an answer.

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

Thanks Ultima, look forward to seeing you back around these parts more as the season begins.

  • Jan

Do you know whether Unforgettable was renewed for next season yet? It really IS a good show.
