via release:

To cap off tonight’s finale, it was announced that FOX has picked up SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE for an 11th season. Later this year, auditions will kick off for next season’s competition, with producers traveling across the country in search of the best dancers in America. Details will be available on www.fox.com/dance.

@Jermal – Thanks for explaining how the world works, but you’re missing the point. SYTYCD has been on during the summer for 9 of its 10 seasons, and this is, by far, its lowest rated season. I doubt even Fox really cares that it won the Emmy for lighting in a variety series last year.

This season was much better than the previous few, since the cast this year wasn’t made up of a bunch of juveniles acting like 12 year olds. Dancing talent was much higher as well. Now let’s see if Nigel can bring some life back to the format. I’m surprised Fox is giving him a chance, given how much he screwed up Idol last year.

Cheap show to make, but the talent is good.

it’s not just about the overall total viewers – SYTYCD does well in the younger demos and it had a decent 18-49 share all season for a summer show. i think the tour after the show does well financially too or they wouldn’t keep doing it.

i’m very happy to see it returning – it is one of the best shows on tv, a rare gem in a sea of tv garbage, so i’m glad to see fox supporting it.

Where are you guys getting your numbers?

So You Think You Can Dance averaged a 1.6 Live+SD A18-49 for new episodes this season.

It’s down from last year, but certainly not low enough that people should be questioning the renewal.

Hopefully they’ll bring back the results show next season.

FOX really has nothing else in the Summer. With the Success of Under the Dome, FOX may try scripted programming next Summer. If those hit and SYTYCD continues to slip then it may be time to pull the plug. I feel the network is just giving SYTYCD another opportunity to get back on track. Because it really is starting to get rather tired. I would love to see it end on a high note and thought 10 total seasons is a great run. But 1 or 2 years more and it possibly will be no longer.

There are a few things the show could probably do to help make it feel fresher , BUT like already said it gets the network at least 1 Emmy per season , thats a huge win for any Network ,

No one expects big ratings anymore during the summer. A summer draw in the mid-1s and between 4 and 5 million viewers is acceptable enough for them to consider renewal. If this had been a fall or winter show, it would have been canceled long ago.
