THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY” POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR INCREASES IN VIEWERS (+9%) AND HOUSEHOLDS (+5%) FOR THE WEEK ENDING SEPT. 6
THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY” ADDS NEARLY HALF A MILLION VIEWERS COMPARED TO THE SAME WEEK LAST YEAR
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted year-to-year increases in viewers (6.07m from 5.58m, +9%) and households (4.1/08 from 3.9/08, +5%), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Sept. 6.
The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added nearly half a million viewers compared to the same week last year. The CBS broadcast also closed the viewer deficit with ABC by 280,000 viewers (from 1.83m to 1.55m) and with NBC by 300,000 viewers (from 2.03m to 1.73m) compared to the same week last year.
Editor’s Note: The year-ago comparison represents a three-day average (Tuesday-Thursday). For the week ending Sept. 6, the CBS broadcast was designated a “special” on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday and aired under an amended title on Friday to due to coverage of the U.S. Open.
Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted increases in both viewers (+7%, 6.44m from 6.04m) and households (+7%, 4.4/09 from 4.1/08). Television year-to-date, the CBS broadcast also maintained its adults 25-54(1.5/05) – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – compared to last year.
