I’m always surprised by SOA ratings. It doesn’t get as much buzz as some of the other popular cable dramas but it always puts up big numbers especially for its premieres.

  • Tony JJ

Wow! I need to catch up with this show, but with 5 seasons in the can its a big commitment. Amazing numbers though!

  • Ben Thompson

    Amazing for SOA.

  • John A

Not my kind of shnw but wow great ratings. I didnt even know it was on. Did it have alot of Buzz?

  • j

I know it’s one of just 6ish cable shows with a 1.5+, but it never feels like one of the Big Shows. I don’t think I’ve watched a single ep, and none of my friends talk about it.

  • Katie

Just because some people didn’t know it was on (people that don’t watch the show) doesn’t mean others didn’t know it was on obviously because of the great numbers. People that watch and are fans know when it’s on. It was promoted of FX quite often and I also saw plenty of promotion online and well in some magazine.

  • Mr Mikey

What’s taking so long for the Tuesday Cable Ratings?

  • dg

great season opener and very shocking and very glad it has such great numbers

  • rob60990

And people think The Americans and The Bridge are doing well.

  • steve2013

Just amazing considering its in its 6th season its like the NCIS of Cable rising every season

  • steve2013

^^to add to above my worry with these ratings FX wont allow it to end on its own terms ie next season

  • John

Sons of Anarchy ratings are great, but not even really important now. The show is obviously going to be renewed for a seventh and (probably) final season. Kurt Sutter will get to bring this story to its full conclusion.

  • davie

I find it interesting that FX is already thinking about Season 7 as the Final Season, as it says “The Premiere of the penultimate season of SOA..”

and we all know Sutter wants to end it next year, I wonder if FX will pull a Breaking Bad with Season 7 and split it up into two years?

  • Jared

So glad to see SOA remain strong in the ratings. I doubt FX will force Sutter to continue past season 7, if anything they might ask hm to do a prequel show of the Redwood 9. Also I doubt Charlie Hunnam is going to sign on for more, that is if 50 Shades boosts his career significantly.

  • Ellie

    I’m a newbie here.

Only started watching Sons of Anarchy (SOA) because of the actor Charlie Hunnam. I think there might have been a lot of gals like myself tuning in for the first time because of Charlie and the fact that he was recently named the lead actor in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

It was more violent than the shows I usually watch. I’m thinking though I’ll stick around and see what happens!

  • bruce

    Welcome Ellie.

I’m more of a viewer than a commenter myself, but every once in awhile it’s worth throwing in my 2 cents.

You should Definitely stick around and watch the show. Every episode is unique, every story has its own twists and turns, and i know the violence can be overwhelming at times, but the Story really does come first.

Amazing Numbers, and an unbelievable start to the Season. Hope you enjoy the ride!!

  • Jay Z

Can I just say how GREAT Sons Of Anarchy is !!!!!
I watched seasons 1-5 starting in January on Netflix/Online and now I get to watch it every Tuesday with the rest of America ! Im only upset that I have to wait a full week for a new episode :/

  • Melanie

Wow! Great numbers for the premiere. SOA is such a good show — dark, but good. Jimmy Smits was a great addition last season and Donal Logue is shaping up as an interesting adversary this season. The whole cast is so strong, it annoys me that the show is so completely snubbed by the Emmy’s.

@Ellie I was wondering when I read the comment about the increase in Women viewers if the announcement of Charlie’s casting in 50 Shades brought in new viewers to check him out. Welcome to SOA!

  • Wright

    Great episode!!!

  • Ike

This is such a trashy, pulpy show. It’s for people who liked The Sopranos just for the whackings and other violence and had no patience for the profound, thoughtful, award-winning dramatic elements of that show or others like it. It has a certain addictive quality but it’s not well-made. The characters almost never grow or change in any way. Of course, as we can see with these ratings, trashy pulp can get big audiences.
