WE tv’s “TAMAR & VINCE” RETURNS STRONG FOR SECOND SEASON POSTING
IMPRESSIVE GAINS OVER SEASON ONE
WE tv Star Finds Success in Music as Her New Album Ranks #1 on Both the Billboard
And iTunes R&B Charts
NEW YORK, NY – September 11, 2013 – On Thursday, September 5 (9-10 pm ET/PT), WE tv’s hit original series Tamar & Vince returned for its second season delivering 1.2 million total viewers, 668,000 W18-49 and 623,000 W25-54. This marks an impressive growth of +34%, +46% and +30% respectively over the show’s season one average. In social media, the premiere ranked #3 on Trendrr, up +92% versus the season one premiere.
In addition, Tamar’s album “Love and War” [Streamline/Epic Records; 9/3/13], reached #1 on both the Billboard Top R&B Albums Chart and the iTunes R&B Albums Chart in addition to being the No.1-selling physical album overall. Selling over 114,000 copies, the album also claimed the #2 spot on the Billboard Top 200. This marks the year's highest debut for a female R&B artist, solidifying Tamar’s place as one of the genre's reigning divas and opening the door for even bigger success on the horizon. Tamar also announced the release of her very first Christmas album, available October 22. She will also be supporting John Legend on this fall’s Made to Love tour.
“Tamar is a star and we knew it from the very start of Braxton Family Values just two short years ago,” said Kim Martin, president and general manager of WE tv. “She has that amazing combination of smarts, savvy, talent and work ethic that make her beloved by fans and irresistible to watch. We couldn’t be happier that the second season of Tamar & Vince was so well received by our viewers and that her new album is topping the music charts.”
The impressive performance of Tamar & Vince builds on the success WE tv has recently experienced with its other originals, including Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas and L.A. Hair – both already renewed for new seasons in 2014. The debut season of Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas reached nearly 6.4 million total viewers[iii] and helped make WE tv the #1 women’s network on Friday nights among W18-34 and W18-49[iv]. The second season of L.A. Hair grew +66% among W25-54, +40% among W18-49 and +57% among both total viewers and total women[v] over its initial season.
