HIGHEST rating IN 23 YEARS ROLLS IN FOR “SEC ON CBS” COVERAGE OF
NO. 1 ALABAMA vs. NO. 6 TEXAS A&M

Game Earns Overnight HH Rating/Share of 9.0/21, Up 200% in Metered Markets

CBS Sports kicked off its 2013 SEC ON CBS college football schedule with No. 1-Alabama vs. No. 6-Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 14, earning an overnight household rating/share of 9.0/21, up 200% from last year’s 3.0/7 for its season opening broadcast (Alabama-Arkansas).

The 9.0/21 is the Network’s highest-rated afternoon regular-season college football game in 23 years (excluding the SEC Championship game) in the metered markets (10.1; Miami-Notre Dame; 10/20/1990).

The Alabama-Texas A&M game rating/share peaked at 10.2/22 from 7:00-7:15 PM, ET.

I wonder what that is in 18-49. I bet we see a big recovery in the Alabama-LSU ratings this year, too.

I agree on the Alabama-LSU. Especially since both teams are looking great! Wonder if that’ll be a primetime game? Ole Miss/Alabama might do good. Imagine if these teams Alabama/Texas, have a rematch for the SEC? Record smashing ratings!

Alabama-LSU is traditionally in primetime. Ole Miss is good, but that just does not have the instant hook. Alabama-LSU will not go quite as high as when it was #1/#2 (or the title game), but it will do much better than last year. LSU and Stanford are the only things in the way of a seemingly inevitable showdown between Alabama and Oregon.

Bama/TAMU can’t rematch in the SEC Championship game b/c they are in the same division. Bama/Georgia can play and rematch last year’s classic SECCG.

IF LSU is undefeated when they get to the SEC title game, they would have beaten UGA and Florida, so they would be in the top 3 because of schedule alone.

  • Survivor Fan

LSU will have to also beat both ‘Bama and A&M. I personally think that LSU may be this year’s Florida- the team that does not play in the de facto national semifinal, but gets the spot in the Sugar Bowl ahead of the loser (but with a different result, perhaps).

Thanks for the clarification on standings…….I’m from Canada……..lol LSU looks good so far. Their offence is way better and Mettenberger has improved a lot. Alabama/LSU will be good.
