Sleepy Hollow cast

Sleepy Hollow, FOX's latest genre show, premieres tonight. It's a quirky spin on the classic Washington Irving novela with Ichabod Crane waking up in the present day and teaming up with a sheriff to battle the Headless Horseman and unravel a complex conspiracy. The reviews have been largely positive. The question is whether the show will deliver strong ratings. In its favor, it has a solid lead-in in Bones.  Working against it, it is facing off against bi and the premiere of Dancing with the Stars

. Last season, The Mob Doctor premiered in the same time period on Monday, September  17 to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. Many thought it would be the first show of the season to get canceled, but it hung on and aired for 13 episodes..

For comparison to other FOX genre shows in the time period , two seasons ago, the two hour premiere of Terra Nova debuted with a strong 3.1 adults 18-49 rating on September 26, 2011.  Ratings for subsequent episodes, of course, tumbled and the show was not picked up for a second season. So how do you think Sleepy Hollow will fare tonight?

Sleepy Hollow might have been good with a better lead actress as the cop. Nicole Beharie will turn a lot of viewers away. The show might get sampled today, but will be crushed next week by 2 Broke Girls, dancing and NFL football.

I like to see this do well.. but i’m looking at this realistically 2.1…

To me this is such a wild card. Not much buzz, but being a genre show and a ‘name’ it could premiere decent but FOX has had trouble launching dramas before. It could easily flop = 1.6. Or start out great = 3.0.

    My guesses:

    Bones 2.5
    Sleepy Hollow 2.7
    Dancing with the Stars 3.8
    Under the Dome 2.7

    @ph

    Don’t forget the voice!

  • Dollface

I think it might do decent its one of the earlier premiers and people are bored with the summer blah.

  • tv_viewer

    Bones 2.2
    Sleepy Hollow 3.0
    Under The Dome 2.6

Sleepy Hollow appeals to a younger skewing fans than Dancing with The Stars. However the finale of American Ninja Warrior may pose a problem. Under The Dome should bounce back from the delay due to the US. Open men’s final last week.

It was really, really good — hope it gets the ratings.

FOX are on a losing streak and I think Sara will tell us tomorrow that predictions have been TOO OPTIMISTIC.

  • StevenFlorida

Wait.. Someone predicted DWTS to reach 16 million? When was the last time this even happened?

  • ToXiX

Ratings could go either way. But i voted 2.2-2.4

Ready to see the numbers tomorrow

The pilot was great. I hope it does great! It has a lot of potential.

  • TVMAN

@Steven. Last year FOX broke their loosing streak with The Following, it was one the number 1 new drama last year and ratings held greatly.

  • Jane Elliot

Wow, I think I just had a post blocked for the first time. Moderators? Did I hit a filter?

    @Can’t remember

I only brought up race at all in the context of black folks watching because it has a black lead. Geez. I’ve long thought more shows should have black leads because black audiences are chronically underserved on television, especially broadcast.

    Sleepy Hollow – 2.5
    DWTS – 3.4

  • kennya

    2.2

  • rob60990

In early overnight ratings, Sleepy Hollow actually built from Bones.

    Bones: 5.0
    Sleepy Hollow: 6.1

  • Sam

    I don’t see it getting more than a 3.2
It will probably go down from there to crash and burn. Which is sad cuz it’s pretty good. Fox just can’t keep new shows around.

  • Simon

Sleepy Hollow scored a 3.2 a 18-49 demo in the top 25 markets

    From Spoiler-TV

Pretty damn good considering that it is the first new show to premiere this season! Fox must be breathing a huge sigh of relief in the thought that they may be out of their slump!

I was pleasantly suprised by the pilot. I went in with low expectations/ ‘uninterested’. It was suprisingly good.

I guess at some point i got tired of these mystery shows after the era of Lost and the series of books by Dan Brown and all the Templar stories. But i sure will be following this.
