    @Dan
    Is Sleepy Hollow one of this seasons 13 episode limited series?

    Fox only have it scheduled to run 13 episodes. The Following returns midseason to take the Monday 9PM slot. If it holds up though they’ll almost certainly pick-up a back 9 and work out where to schedule it later.

  • Dan

    I think FOX will do great this season, Sleepy Hollow is a limited 13 episode series and even if it gradually falls (like Terra Nova) it will still be an improvement over The Mob Doctor, and FOX still has The Following in the fall as well as Almost Human. Also they have a lot of comedy options if one fails, and while X Factor and Idol are down, FOX wont count either out….yet.

  • Dan

    @Alex – Thanks, If FOX orders more episodes, They’ll probably do what they did with Prison Break and have the first 13 air Sept-Dec and then have the back 9 begin airing in March. FOX might have more of a crowded schedule then they anticipated.

    I really liked Sleepy Hollow, and I wasn’t expecting to do so. What sounds like dumb idea can be dumb (Working It) or can be Wonderful (Linda Hamilton’s Beauty and the Beast – sounded like the stupidest thing I’d ever heard, yet next thing I know I’m sitting there every Friday night with a glass of wine, loving every minute of it (unlike the current Beauty and the Male Model, but don’t get me started)). It is a sign of our times that the viewers are begging the writers not to ruin it.

    Where is the MISTRESSES RENEWAL!!!!!!

    @Dan
    What Fox does with a potential back order for Sleepy Hollow will depend on how the rest of the line-up does. Specifically the big question will be how Almost Human does. That could potentially leave an open 8PM slot midseason if it doesn’t do well and in theory Sleepy Hollow could slide to 8PM and serve as lead-in to The Following. Although running the back 9 into the early part of the summer is also an option as that’s their stated plan for scheduling Glee. But having said that with Gang Related and 24: Live Another Day tentatively scheduled to air Monday nights in that kind of slot it would still cause problems for actually scheduling a back 9 for Sleepy Hollow. The joys of network scheduling.

    For everyone suggest FOX lineup changes, keep in mind that networks usually don’t shuffle shows around when their original lineup is working (which it is so far for FOX).

    There’s virtually no chance that they’ll not go through with the Almost Human/Sleepy Hollow lineup on Mondays at this point, given last night’s numbers. The plan is successful so far, why change it?

    That means Bones is probably headed to Friday. The only reasonable way that changes is if Glee is way down and FOX is looking at 4th place on Thursday nights during November sweeps, then maybe they swap Glee and Bones.

    Fox will not order more episodes of SH just because it does well. This year Fox is trying cable scheduling, which means each series get around 13 episodes every season. If DH holds it will get a second season, but no back 9 definitely.

    Also, SH works on a limited premise. It won’t do better with 22 episodes.

    Bones, Almost Human, The Following, Glee will be scheduled as planned. Bones will be sent to Fridays in Nov. If it stays on Monday, Raising Hope will have to anchor the night of its own. Don’t expect Glee to flop either it isn’t a freshmam drama.

    Worth remembering that Sleepy Hollow is the only part of the Fox plan we’ve seen so far and it hasn’t faced full strength competition yet. I think we’ll get a better idea of where Fox stands later today when we see how the new comedies debut (and how New Girl and Mindy returned) and then again next week when we see how everything holds up with competition and how Glee returns. Its not out of the question that Monday is the only night that’s actually going to work for them (Glee is seemingly relying on a ‘death bounce’, The X Factor is basically a dead show walking at this point and we all know how last years attempt at a two hour comedy block went and it wasn’t hampered by one of the worst shows the networks have produced in some time) and if that’s the case you have to wonder how wise it would be to mess with it.

  • verus

    Sleepy Hollow will be interesting to follow after those impressive numbers.

  • Edward

    The brilliance of premiering early is you get great premiere numbers aided by reduced competition.

    The downside is the almost inevitable fall off in week two when everything else premieres. We’ll soon see how much of the audience is hooked enough to make it their must-watch-live show on Mondays.

    Sleepy Hollow did good but so did Alcatraz (also time travelling-ish fantasy) when it premiered (3.3) and we all know that went downhill… Sleepy Hollow premise is not more original than Alcatraz’s was so the question is whether Sleepy Hollow will be better at sustaining the interest beyond the initial WOW factor…

    But hey, Under the Dome has been awful after the premiere and looky, still pretty decent ratings!

    Too bad they can’t cancel The X Factor result show (in November) on Thursdays and move Bones there. Fridays will never work for Fox. Too bad.
