MIAMI – SEPTEMBER 18, 2013- Deportes Telemundo announced today that former Mexican soccer player and star midfielder, Manuel Sol, will join the network sports division as an expert soccer analyst and overall contributor for all Deportes Telemundo platforms. The veteran analyst will provide a unique perspective that will help viewers to understand more in depth what players experience tactically on the pitch. A former standout for Pumas, Necaxa, Atlante, Puebla, Monterrey, Chivas and the Mexican National Team during a distinguished 15-year career, Sol adds another key enhancement to the award winning broadcast team.

Manuel Sol will be introduced as part of the team this Thursday night on “Titulares y Mas” at 11:35pm ET/10:35C and his first weekend on the air includes two matches: Chelsea vs. Fulham on Saturday, September 21 at 12:25PM ET/11:25AM C/9:25 AM PT, and Arsenal vs. Stoke on Sunday, September 22 at 8:25AM ET/7:25C/5:25 PT. Both matches can be seen on mun2 or via live stream on the Deportes Telemundo En Vivo application. Deportes Telemundo will also air the Manchester Derby, City vs. United, live on Sunday at 10:55AM ET/9:55 C/7:55 PT on the Telemundo network.
Manuel Sol’s career as a player is both extensive and prestigious, extending from 1992 to 2007. The 15-year veteran made his professional debut with Pumas in 1992 and quickly became a household name for Mexican soccer fans. His prowess on the field, playing at an international caliber level, allowed him to be a part of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 1998 Gold Cup and World Cup Qualifying for the 1998 World Cup with the Mexican National Team. The Mexican midfielder played for six different teams in the first nine years of his career, but he found a home in Guadalajara in 2001. Manuel Sol played for Chivas during the last six years of his career and was a fan favorite, advancing to the Copa Libertadores semifinal in 2004 and winning a title in 2007, the last season of his professional career.
After he retired from soccer, Manuel Sol started a career in broadcasting that saw him become a radio commentator for Radio Chivas, Televisa Deportes and Radio FDP from Guadalajara.
