  • In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.9/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/6 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5.
  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/4.
  • From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
  • From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Bummed for Mindy Project. Hopefully the fact it was available on Hulu from a week ago played a part in those ratings.

  • Ike

@ruckfules55, I’m not a fan of New Girl, but the show’s ratings decline last year was not as bad as it looked.

Look at its crazy ratio of 18-49 to total viewers. It must be doing really well in adults 18-34 to skew so young. This is surely why it has gotten such huge, huge ad rates in the past. I may not like it, but it’s staying right where it is.

Haven’t had a chance to watch B9-9 yet, but that’s a good start by modern standards. Too bad it does not skew as young as New Girl, but not much does.

  • Rachel

Was James Franco supposed to boost Mindy’s ratings? He’s so random on this show but he did do General Hospital…

  • DM

Brooklyn Nine Nine was terrible. I couldn’t wait for it to end. At least I got a few laughs out of Dads.

I know everyone is going to scream #FanExcuseBingo at me, but I didn’t watch Mindy last night because I already watched it last week on Hulu. I love that show and I thought it was a good episode. I hope it manages to go up or at least not drop off.

  • K

Dads should focus more on Martin Mull and Seth Green, and please no more Vanessa Lachey. She was bad on Wipeout and now she is bad on this show as well.

  • KarenM

    B99 will be gone soon.

  • gerry

i started mindy over the summer and i like it. its certainly not the best comedy on tv but i like it and i like kaling and kaling is kind the up and coming tina fey/amy poehler so i think fox might be wary of nixing this too soon. and while its numbers aren’t huge, they’re up and hopefully stable.

not so stable are the numbers for dads and 9-9. i watched the latter and wasn’t amazed but i’m curious to see more. so the pilot met it’s objective. dads, on the other hand, sounds atrocious and can go away anytime. perhaps mindy could move to that slot?

I’M REALLY HAPPY FOR CAPTURE! that’s quickly become my summertime jam and i’m sure cw will renew at this point. yay!

  • Zapbob

The 10 million old people that watch NCIS…..don’t even know they are watching a repeat.

  • Dawn

I hope The Mindy Project improves.

  • Stephen

Mindy 6th out of 6 scripted shows that have had premieres thus far on FOX not looking good for the show but if Dads drops hard then at least the bear will have something else to munch on first.

Decent for NG and B99 will see how they hold up next week.

  • Mike

I thought that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was great. The characters are all well thought out, from their faults to their good sides.Talented and funny cast too-from Samburg to Crews to the cute chick from the first episode of Louie.

Dad was just the opposite-very one dimensional characters who are not flashed out at all. They just walk around making bad jokes. If you are gonna do ‘All in the Family’ type comedy,it has to have a heart and be topical.Which Dad isn’t.

  • Bob

The New Girl did well only because of James Franco. It will fall hard next week unless Franco becomes a regular.

  • CBSviewer

NCIS season 10 finale was awesome ! It’s the best season finale since season six. Can’t wait for next week :)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Dads will suffer next Tuesday.
    The Mindy Project is DOA.

  • Robert singer

I’m sorry but Dad’s was TERRIBLE. No chemistry between the dads and sons, bad jokes and poor writing.
This show will be done by Thanksgiving. Too bad as I am a big fan of Seth Green. Martin Mull should go back into retirement.

I’m not too sure about that. I admit I’m a lazy ass so can anyone help me verify what NG’s series low is? I think it got as low as a 1.9?

Having said that, yup I agree that it’s very young-skewing. But the question is how much will NG erode this year? Remember that it will face The Voice the whole fall at 9PM. By my sloppy memory, it achieved what I remember to be a low rating last season when The Voice slid to 9PM for a week. It’s not quite a stretch to also imagine NG averaging 1.7s in the spring. And by that time I don’t think it should be Fox’s anchor anymore. It will be like NBC’s The Office after 9 seasons.

  • John A

Mindy at 1.9 isnt that bad. It fell to 1.3 last year at times so it didnt do that bad really. Of course it not great but hardly horrible.

  • CP

Franco was on Mindy, not New Girl.

  • James

James Franco appears on the Mindy Project, not New Girl.

  • Brandy

@reallytired, you know TBBT is the highest rated comedy on tv and the #1 entertainment program for A 25_54& 18_49 right?Plus, 15_20 million people watch a original episode each week. Also, its the highest ,one one of the highest, rated syndicated shows too.So clearly ,millions of people laugh out loud at it every day.
