Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Reallytired might be one of those kids who skipped or hated their science courses that’s why they don’t get the jokes the TBBT.

  • Mike

B99 reminded me of police comedy shows like Barney Miller,Car 54 Where Are You and others.Where its about the interactions of different characters as much as anything else.It is too bad that being on a network like Fox,it probably wont make syndication like those shows.

  • Ram510

B99 was AWESOME! It could be the next Parks & Recs

Mindy project should’ve never been renewed and those numbers prove it

  • Toucan

Is there any evidence that Franco is popular with people who aren’t in the industry? He gets a lot of buzz, but do the masses know who he is or find him likable?

I find it strange that Fox is crowing about the numbers for Dads 2.2 isn’t that great for a premier with no competition. Shows almost always drop after the premier and there will be heavy competition next week.

  • chloe

New girl season 2 is available on netflix, I think more people will catch up with and the ratings can gradually increased over the few weeks

  • Hammy

Eh, I watched Dads and am not ashamed to admit it. It was lowbrow, mindless humor. There were a few things I laughed at but if it goes away it’s no big loss.

I am sad that Boon is looking so old.

  • sakil

Why am I not surprised that Brooklyn Nine-Nine had bad premiere ratings? You’d think FOX has learned a lesson from The Good Guys.

  • James

New Girl was the highest rated comedy on Tuesday last season, and it beat all other comedies that went against it (Go On and Happy Endings). Giving up is pretty much telling ABC and NBC that their Tuesday comedies will be free of competition.

Of course, its ratings have dropped to the level of The Office, but other sitcoms did way worse. That’s why New Girl will anchor the night.

    @ James

“New Girl was the highest rated comedy on Tuesday last season, and it beat all other comedies that went against it (Go On and Happy Endings).”

It’s worth noting that both Go On and Happy Endings were cancelled. “Beating” cancelled shows in the ratings is sort of like saying to beat a one legged man in a rear end kicking contest!

  • Alex

Of course, its ratings have dropped to the level of The Office, but other sitcoms did way worse. That’s why New Girl will anchor the night.

New Girl – Bad but not as bad as other comedies…

    That’s a winning slogan.

  • r0ckmypants

@sakill – Brooklyn Nine-Nine could have done better, for sure, but those numbers are far from bad. It’s higher than either new comedy Fox premiered last season, and it grew out of its lead-in. Plus, The Good Guys and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have nothing in common from a ratings standpoint: the former was an hour-long summer show.

@Toucan – Franco was the lead in Oz the Great and Powerful just a few months ago, which grossed over $200 million domestically. Rise of the Planet of the Apes grossed $175 million domestically. I think the majority of America would recognize him.

  • TomK

The Mindy Project is GREAT and talented writers and stars is why they brought the show back! Just needs a better timeslot, earlier in the night.

  • John A

All i was saying is Mindy did ok for its premiere. It wasnt going to get a 3.0 was it? I know next week and on it will get crushed

  • Chris

I tried watching all 4 comedies last night on FOX, I never seen Mindy or New Girl but heard good things so I checked them out.

I wasn’t a fan of Dads, I thought the humor was too forced but maybe I expected more from it because of Seth Green. I will give it another chance since it was just the pilot but I didn’t laugh at all in this one

B99 was my favorite of the four, I thought I would like Dads better but this show had me laughing at multiple scenes of the show. I really enjoy the cast and hope the ratings will remain steady

New Girl was good but I should have watched the previous seasons because I was a bit confused. It had a few good funny moments, I like the Lead Actor & Actress, the other two guys weren’t that funny though.

Mindy Project- This one I wasn’t a fan of, I don’t know what it was. I like Mindy but she wasn’t that funny in this episode. I will give this one another try as well but I didn’t like it that much. Thought the whole plot of the episode didn’t make too much sense.

    @Alex & Tommy M.

    Touche! Hahaha

Yup, it was at Office Season 9 levels last spring, when The Voice was still at 8PM. This makes me question NG’s longevity given its competition this fall. Can the SB give it a bounce?

Fox really needs a live action comedy to explode this season. Can B99 can be it (with the help of a sophomore bounce like The Office back then, because I don’t think it can top its premiere rating this season)? I do hope that Enlisted will be it. That looks like a really fun show.

  • Brandon

Super bummed that my favorite team on Capture got eliminated last night!

Also I wish more people watched the Mindy Project.

  • Cath

Next week will be the real test for FOX comedies when NCIS and Avengers spin off premieres.

  • Gregg247

I like Mindy Kaling, but I don’t think her show is funny. Make me laugh and I’ll watch your show. That’s the same rule I applied to Jerry Seinfeld, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, etc. back in the day.

Stop using race as an excuse.

  • Ram510

    @ TomK

What better timeslot is there for Mindy beside after New Girl which got a 2.9 last night? People just aren’t interested in that show, it lost a full ratings point from its lead and couldn’t even improve from last season ratings. That spells it out, let this one go Fox!

They need to switch B99 and Mindy so they aren’t wasting an excellent lead in on a show nobody’s watching

  • Nancy

Well despite the naysayers here I think Mindy will retain most of it’s viewers and demo. I mean this isn’t a new show with a bunch of new people watching and then a huge drop-off by the second week, it has its core audience along with some new viewers it probably gained over the summer so it might even grow even if it is slowly but I think it will maintain these numbers for most of the season.
