Which Sophomore Broadcast TV Shows Will Be Canceled In 2013-14? (Poll)

While the attrition rate among freshman broadcast scripted TV shows is brutal (pick which you think will be canceled first here), returning sophomore shows aren't completely safe. Every season it's reasonable to expect one or more to fall prey to the Cancellation Bear.

Last season, Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23 and Whitney were sophomore shows that became #bearchow. (and as astute commenter Tom points out, so were Touch, Up All Night and Smash.)

Unlike the "first show to be canceled" poll, the "Which Sophomore Shows Will Be Canceled?" isn't a choice of "first". If a sophomore show is canceled it's virtually certain it will be canceled at the end of the season (or at least after its run of ordered episodes is complete).

Also, unlike the other poll, you're not limited to a single choice in this poll, you can pick as many shows as you think will be canceled.

Which sophomore shows will be canceled by the end of this season? Feel free to expound on your choices in the comments. (and feel free to remind me which shows I forgot to put in the list)

Again, as they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often.

Neighbours, Carrie Dairies, Revolution and Mindy Project.

  • Joe

The Carrie Diaries, The Mindy Project, and Nashville all should never have been renewed. Let’s see how long it takes their respective network to see that this year.

  • Matt

Revolution and Nashville are going to tank this season… and the Neighbors and The Carrie Diaries should have already been cancelled

  • pedro

Only now i realised how few shows on their sophmore season the networks have this year

  • Ron

I think all of them will probably be cancelled except Arrow,Chicago Fire and The following.(Which all have decent ratings)Nashville may survive but depending how well Abc new and existing shows do,it might get the bear.

  • Pavelsauce

TCD, Revolution, The Neighbors, BATB, and TMP.

  • rob60990

Definitely The Neighbors, Carrie Diaries, Revolution, & Beauty & the Beast. Nashville depending on how well ABC does with their new dramas.

  • jimmers

Revolution…BORING!!! The Neighbors…ABC…you’re wack. Picking it up for a second season instead of bringing Happy Endings back. Yes, I’m still upset at that!

  • rob60990

The Mindy Project too. Only a 1.9 for its premiere is terrible.

  • Dan S

I voted for 4 shows that won’t likely see a 3rd season. Gone are Carrie Diaries, Beauty & the Beast, Neighbors & my favorite Mindy Project. I think the other shows like Revolution & Nashville will survive to see a 3rd season.

I voted TCD(even though I like this show), BATB, Neighbors and Mindy Project. There’s no way BATB is gonna do even okay against The Voice, DWTS, Sleepy Hollow and CBS comedies plus MNF with a much weaker lead in. TCD already went below a million viewers like three times already, Mindy Project only got a 1.9 for their season 2 premiere and it’s only gonna go down from there, and Neighbors because it’s on a new night and it’s stupid. Nashville will do good since it’s up against male oriented shows and I think Revolution will also do good because X Factor’s bombing and Survivor is slowly falling and ABC comedies don’t share no audience with Revolution, so the only competition Revolution has is Arrow. Chicago Fire, Arrow and Elementary are all gonna survive.

I’m sure The Carrie Diaries, The Mindy Project, Elementary, Beauty and The Beast and The Neighbors won’t survive to this season.
But I can’t see why Arrow, Revolution and Chicago Fire are in the list ! They are not low-rated ! They all are in the high spot of their channels

  • jupiter3765

nashville will season 3 but i am gpong for revolution and the mindy project

  • Jack Bauer

The Neighbors, Carrie Diaries and Mindy Project are gone after the season is over. Why REVOLUTION? Let’s hope that Season Two of Revolution won’t disappoint than it was in its rookie season.

  • Carmen

I voted for Revolution. It will collapse this year

  • TV God

The Following will be fine if it airs after Bones. I think Sleepy Hollow will drop in the ratings, so The Following will need Bones.

  • Matthew

I think the neighbors is pretty hilarious and did relatively well last season considering… I laugh a lot more with the neighbors than I do with the middle lately… I like pairing it with LMS so here’s hoping to good ratings… TCD should’ve been cancelled but I like the show and good pair with ANTM… Revolution will probably be cancelled especially on the day and time it’s on… This is a repeat of what happened with Smash… I loved both shows but would be kept smash over rev… I could not care less about the other shows

  • PurpleDrazi

You would think The Carrie Diaries and BaTB would be guaranteed but the CW has shown in the past that they are willing to scrape the bottom of the ratings barrel so I’m not going to go there.

I think Revolution will drop but squeak by to season 3 because it is on NBC.

The Mindy Project and The Neighbors are gone.

  • jessica

Jeff (Canada), you voted the same as i did.

I don’t think anyone in the USA will ever really understand that B&TB qualifying as ‘Canadian Content’ and not being made by its Canadian broadcaster results in a rather large flow of cash coming to CBS which can offset lower ratings on The CW and thus position B&TB as one of the more stable shows on the network.

The logic used here is that if a show can survive a second season @ 22 episodes then it might as well have received a 2-year renewal conditional on its third season not being a gigantic failure because at 60+ episodes there exists the tease to get closer to 90 for some sort of syndication deal. So despite what others have said about it only a few months ago i would have to expect Hart Of Dixie to be renewed for 2014-15. I look at the shows on this list and ask myself not which will be back next season but which will be back the season after that. Revolution, Elementary, Arrow, and Chicago Fire are pretty safe bets. The Following also could get a fourth season but with less episodes it would need to get to 6 seasons to have about the same number of episodes.
