Update: In preliminary ratings Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D delivered a 4.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premieres tonight at 8PM. ABC is certainly expecting big things from this tie-in series, especially as rumors swirl about possible other Marvel Universe TV projects in the pipeline. So what do you think? Will the newly-resurrected Phil Coulson bring in the ratings? Will you be tuning in? Make your predictions below and explain your rationale in the comments!

  • ABC hater

  • Sam

As a fan of the avengers, I will tune in! And I expect pretty bug ratings since superheroes are pretty popular these days.

  • Nathan

    Shield – 4.0
    Goldbergs – 3.0
    Trophy Wife – 2.6

  • Peter

Keep in mind that although Joss Whedon won’t be completely involved, his brother Jed Whedon and his brothers wife Maurissa Tancharoen will be the day to day Showrunners along with Jeff Bell.

I’m saying >4.1, since I’m a fan of Joss Whedon–NOT The Biggest Fan of JW, but a fan nonetheless (Go Buffy!)

  • Why Watch

Jethro Gibbs is going to womp SHIELD. Lucky if it gets to 2.7.

  • Tommy M.

I’m basing my guess partly off how No Ordinary Family premiered (3.1) given that both it and SHIELD have the same target demo and both had similar promotion. SHIELD does have Marvel’s brand attached to it so it should benefit from that. My guess is 3.5-4.0

  • Jeff R.

Hugely. And B99 will suffer for it, which is a crying shame. (Fox should consider swapping B99 and Mindy ASAP.)

  • Juan

I say 5.5, I think it will be huge.

  • Samunto

I won’t even bother trying to be modest about my predictions.
    I’ll say 5.6!

    OK between 5.0-6.0.

Less than a 4.0 would be a disappointment. Expect CBS to suffer losses. NBC will still do very well.

  • SJ

    SHIELD – 4.6
    The Goldbergs – 3.8
    Trophy Wife – 3.0
    Lucky 7 – 2.2

Though I could be a bit too optimistic about the latter two.

  • Stephen Judson

I think it will get between 3.6-4.0. I’m hoping it premieres in the >4.1 stratosphere, tho.

  • hello

I honestly think it will go high, minimum 5.0

  • CP

I don’t think it will get in the 4’s, but I’m positive it won’t be in the 2’s either. If it’s really bad it may eventually hit the 2’s, but certainly not for the premiere.

  • dantas

    I voted for 3.6 – 4.0, but I can see it bombing with only 2.0 – 2.5

  • victor Hugo

    S.H.I.L.D.S – 15-18 Million viewers and 5.0 rating

  • Fake Me Out

I really, REALLY want MAoS to be a good show with decent ratings … but I’ve been very underwhelmed by the various snippets and promos I’ve seen … hopefully they’ve not done the show justice and it will be much better … or maybe it’s just me … or maybe they’ll suffer ST:TNG syndrome and the first shows/season will be painful to watch as they gel and get their sea legs. I think the hype surrounding this show is real so I’d expect a 3.5 – 4.5 rating and will split it and guess 4.0. The rest of ABCs shows will likely equal MAoS … that is if you add them all together. I have no interest in them and don’t care what they get … I don’t see any of them making it to season 2 or even all the way through season 1.

I expect NCIS to be the big winner tonight within a 4.5 – 5.5 range, so again I’ll split it and guess 5.0 with significant drop off @ 9pm and beyond.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Fox comedies do in their week 2 now facing very stiff competition … I expect them to be much weaker but they may make it up in L+3/L+7 … except Mindy and perhaps Dads. Dads seems to have most people ripping it … I don’t get it … it’s not that bad and is what it is, 20+ minutes of escapist humour … it’s not meant to change the world or alter our consciousness, just give us a few laughs. That said I think the die is cast, it’s fate sealed and sadly it’s one and done.

If V and even Revolution can start over a 4.0 I’m sure shield can too

  • Peter

@FakeMeOut, Joss Whedon wrote it, plus it has his humor in it.

  • California

OMG for the people who says the show will have 3.5 or less :D :D :D
