“Katie” National Ratings – Week 1

Based on National ratings for its second season premiere week (w/o 9/9/13), “Katie” shot up by double digits week to week in Households (+19% - 1.9 rating vs. 1.6 rating), Total Viewers (+22% - 2.388 million vs. 1.962 million) and Women 25-54 (+29% - 0.9 rating vs. 0.7 rating). In fact, “Katie” scored its highest Household rating and largest audience in more than 6 months and matched its highest Women 25-54 rating in 7 months – since w/o 2/25/13 and w/o 2/4/13, respectively.


  • “Katie” nearly matched its big year-ago debut week in Households, pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point (1.9 rating vs. 2.0 rating on w/o 9/10/12).


  • During premiere week, “Katie” finished among the Top 5 syndicated talk shows in U.S. Homes (No. 5).


“Katie” is executive-produced by Katie Couric and Rachel Miskowiec and is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.

    Tom, That would depend on what her ratings do the rest of the season. Considering that she moved in the top 5 talk shows with the season opener I don’t see ABC giving up on it unless they find something definitely better to replace it.

    There Mike goes again spreading the lies of the anti-soaps and pro-cheapest crap possible lobby.

    This press release is absolutely ridiculous and so far from any sense of reality that it’s really unbelievable they think anyone’s going to fall for that.

    Who do they think they’re fooling with their “women 18-54″ demo.

    Advertisers are interested in the key demo BELOW the age of 50, if ABC and CBS like it or not.

    And the fact of the matter is that ALL their cheap shows meant to replace long-running soaps are drawing only about HALF the ratings in the women 18-49 key demo, no matter how desperately some network pr gurus try to spin it.

    It’s incredible that ABC would even announce such terrible ratings as “6-month-highs”, because this only underlines the fact how many viewers they have lost in the key demo since cancelling AMC and OLTL!!

    @Tom: You’re so right. What I’m hearing from TV advertisers tells me that they won’t be going along with these low ratings in the women 18-49 key demo for much longer. How cheap these talk and cooking and game shows may be – they are NOT delivering the numbers that advertisers are actually paying for. On the other side of the spectrum, the soap genre IS doing that (again), better than any other!
