What is getting annoying is waiting until monday or tuesday to find out how the soaps did.

  • Bexx

I bet BB will gain twice as much viewers next week. This is nothing, considering how wonderful they have been performing this year.

  • Maghie

BOLD and The Beautiful has literally been the same story over and over and over again. One cheats on the other (brooke) and then sleeps with another. Blah blah blah. Young and The Restless is the best!! Beautiful storyline

  • Mike

Folks the headline at SON and here is not a slam to your show or mine. The reason for both headlines at both sites is because B&B was the only show to lose viewers in total viewers, the 18-49 and the 18-34 demos. That made it a bad week for B&B because they lost across the board.

  • Mike

Plus remember folks that the people who do these threads want to get site views. The headings are designed to make people open up the thread and look at it.

It’s not always about someone slamming your show or some conspiracy theory. It’s called doing business as usual.

Looks to me like GH is making slow and steady total viewer gains. Has the new writers material begun to air on Y&R? Am away and haven’t seen any shows in two weeks but I must say I was disappointed in the entire Katherine Chancellor thing. It’s unfathomable that she would give the bulk of her fortune to Devon. Seriously?

  • PatF

    Sorry Mike, but I disagree.

They need to look at the overall picture to develop their headline.

I think we all know what they look at, but it’s not always the best story to tell.

    Just my opinion.

  • Rickster

Access Hollywood LIVE and Days of our Lives are the shows switching timeslots in Chicago. Not sure how I feel about that … although I never watch DAYS live due to work.

  • TimsDale4ever

jonboy, the new material will not show up on Y&R until about October 21st and I can’t wait — although I’m sure idiot Phelps has already told the 3 writers that the show must continue to stay focused on the fab 4 (Adam, Chelsea, Dylan, Avery) above all else at least 4 episodes per week….. I was neither disappointed or thrilled at the Katherine tribute but was more RELIEVED that Phelps and her crew didn’t completely screw it all up which I feel they didn’t. It could have been a lot better — but it could have been a lot worse.

    Pat F

They did look at the entire picture for the week which is what they always base the headline on.

B&B was the only show that fell in all 3 categories — so they made the headline about them.

No show rose in every category. And neither site has never made a headline about year to go ratings. Even press releases from the networks only mention year to go ratings but don’t make the headline totally about that.

Like someone else said B&B will probably recover next week. They have been having good ratings for quite some time. They just had an off week. It is not the end of the world and neither is the headline.

@Tim I really don’t have a problem with Chelsea, Adam, Avery or Dylan. I’m enjoying their storyline more than anything else. With the arguable exception of Dylan, I think they are all fine actors. IMO much better, in fact, than some of the “vets.”. Seriously, don’t you think by now Morrow and Case would have a clue??

  • Jocelyn

Supposedly Robin comes back on September 30.

  • PatF

Tim and jon…IMO it’s never been the acting that’s been an issue at YR. Just the questionable HWs (Latham, Maria), and now this EP we are stuck with.

The actors are the reason the show maintains its ratings.

I can tolerate the Dylan character in small doses even.

  • Mike

I would add Josh Griffith to those questionable Head Writers as well. The last 3 writers have not been that great for the show. JG was the lesser of the 3 but he has no history with the show either.

Before he was here for the last year, he had only basically 7 months experience writing for the show. He was on staff from July to Sep 2006 and then as HW from Dec 2007 to Apr 2008.

He was also an ABC writer which many have complained about with the two new hires. He was hired by Brian Frons to work on GH but got fired quickly by Guza. He was also writer for OLTL. His other shows were Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, and As The World Turns (under Hogan Sheffer).

  • Mike

Case has her moments, but Morrow just seems to get worse all the time IMO. The only other time I saw anything remotely good out of him was during Cassie’s death.

  • TimsDale4ever

I don’t have a problem with the Fab 4 in acting (with the possible exception of Chelsea who gasps after every one of her lines). I think in that regard they are currently as good as anyone else on the show. The problem I have with them (which I’m sure is arranged by Phelps) is that they are on CONSTANTLY thus stealing time from other characters. I which I had had the time or the desire to count how many episodes each one of them have been on since about last October. If these 4 are paid by the episode possibly stated in their contracts, they are making a fortune. Long story short, Y&R needs a much more balanced canvas with equal time with other characters. They’re paying other contract actors to hang around, why not put them on the show more. ????

It’s sort of like the GH comments I have read now for years when that show seemed to revolve around 3 of their characters: Sonny, Jason, and Carly. LOL, now one of them is on Y&R and going by the name of Dylan.

  • TimsDale4ever

…and I meant to say that the guy who plays Adam (Michael somebody) is absolutely brilliant in the role, and I totally get his acting Emmy nods.

  • Mike

As far as the vets it depends on what their contract guarantees them. Many of the older vets have contracts that only guarantee 1 episode a week or 1 to 3 a month. That is all they get paid for.

I think I remember that is why Martha Byrne didn’t renew her contract with ATWT. It was over the guarantees they wanted to give her. She wanted more.

  • jonboyelk

@Mike I suppose its a matter of opinion. Personally I’ve never been able to tolerate Case. I’m hoping this current storyline (the Nick obsession) ends with her taking a fatal overdose. Harsh, perhaps, but that shows how I feel about het. And get some conditioner for all those fly away split ends. Why don’t the hair people do something about that? Morrow is eye candy—-and that’s all. Once the looks are gone he’ll be hawking product on late night infommercials.

  • Olivia

Sharon Case is at her best opposite Michael Muhney actually. They have also maybe the best romantic chemistry this show has lacked for decades now..despite the ‘controversial’ history between their characters (which make the characters interesting but also full of controversy)..too bad TPTB don’t want invest in them and instead stuck them in pathetic stories..The Nick’s ridiculous obsession with Sharon and many other nutty things and the baby drama with Chelsea..zzzzzzzzzzz such a waste.
