@Olivia I don’t get why they broke up Nick and Sharon to start with. I was actually ok with her until they split. Since then I can’t stand her or her flyaway hair.

Only because of lack of time, I’ve been away from the soaps for several months. Tuned in on days off but basically missed everything since GH’s 50th. This past Monday, was off and saw both Y&R and GH. Y&R was watchable and had I been off the next day, I would have watched again with no expectation of anything greater. I didn’t feel like I had to keep up. Just watch Y&R again on my days off at Thanksgiving and I’ll be fine.

Over on GH, it was the wedding reception meltdown which, although I missed this storyline build up, immediately drew me in and kept me glued to the show the full hour. I’ve totally missed this storyline’s progression; know about the characters just by reading the soap magazines in the grocery line. After Monday, I HAD to watch the next episode and right now am watching the remaining week of episodes.

That’s the major difference between GH and Y&R. Miss a couple of days of GH and you’ll miss some good stuff. You may be able to keep up with the story but too many OMG moments you don’t want to miss.

In 3 episodes, Sonny explodes (also one of his ships), marriage destroyed, blow up between brothers, Sonny melts down, Carly saves him, Michael sleeps with Ava, Carly catches Michael with Ava, almost catfight, Spinelli aches through the TV set about his pain knowing someone else is raising his daughter, Lulu and Dante totally in love with a baby we know is not theirs, this new Jerome character who blew up Sonny’s boat, and at the end of Wednesday’s, Kiki and Michael walk in on Ava and Morgan???!!! How can I not watch now? No way and that’s why I think the management and writing team at GH are awesome.

The press I’m reading on GH and it being their best season in 5 years should give fans a bit of hope. I actually regret missing these past months based on what I’m hearing in the dialogue. Sounds like I missed some good stuff on GH!!

Just discovered GH is now on my Xfinity On Demand. Don’t know when that happened but YAAAYYY!!!!

Sorry, meant to write Morgan sleeps with Ava and Carly caught Morgan with Ava.

Wow!! Just finished reading a synopsis of this years GH. I missed a lot! My mistake, I should have found time. Won’t let this happen again.

But what you listed is the major problem with soaps today esp in regards to younger viewers.

Younger viewers want a lot to happen but 5 days a week of it seems to be too much. That was the feedback that Prospect Park kept getting with AMC and OLTL and why they cut them down to 2 eppys a week. But then the story was too slow for that same age group.

The younger audience wants a lot to happen to keep them interested but they also want the ability to catch up easy if they get behind.

To me it is really no different in what we had with soaps years ago. I like the fact that the stories kind of moved slower because you could miss a few eppys if you got busy and come right back in. It was easy to follow and attracted viewers because of that.

Someone today needs to find a balance in that somewhere.

i am not suprised that the bold and beautiful numbers are down. the brill storyline is disgusting and people that i know have stop watching because of it. i hope they end up being cancelled and cbs puts another talk show in their place.
