Season Four Premiere Airs This Sunday, September 29, on FOX

FOX has renewed the Emmy Award-nominated BOB’S BURGERS for a fifth season, ordering 22 additional episodes of the hit animated series, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“BOB’S BURGERS is one of those rare finds that just continues to outdo itself, creatively,” said Reilly. “The show has become a key member of our Sunday ANIMATION DOMINATION family, and we're looking forward to attracting new fans with another season.”

Last season, BOB’S BURGERS was a Top 10 comedy among Men 18-49, Men 18-34 and is one of the Top 10 comedies among Male Teens. Additionally, BOB’S BURGERS was one of only two broadcast comedies to post year-over-year gains (+10%) among Adults 18-49.

In the upcoming season premiere, “A River Runs Through Bob,” airing this Sunday, Sept. 29 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Bob (H. Jon Benjamin), Linda (John Roberts) and the kids go on a camping adventure and face the perils of nature...and Bob's intestines.

BOB’S BURGERS follows the ups and downs of Bob (Benjamin), who runs Bob’s Burgers with the help of his wife, Linda (Roberts), and their three kids, Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal). Bob has big ideas about burgers, but his family falls short on service. Despite the greasy counters and lousy location, Bob and his family are determined to make every “Grand Re-Re-Re-opening” a success. This past season, the series received its second Emmy Award nomination for “Outstanding Animated Comedy Series.”

A 20th Century Fox Television and Bento Box Entertainment production, BOB’S BURGERS was created by Loren Bouchard (“Home Movies”). Bouchard and Jim Dauterive (“King of the Hill”) serve as executive producers and writers. “Like” BOB’S BURGERS on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BobsBurgers. Looks like Fox are sticking with Animation Domination even after farming off American Dad!, then. Given its hugely advertiser-friendly demo skew, I don’t blame them.

I’ve never understood why a show with those demographics does better in the fall against SNF than in the spring without it though.

“I’ve never understood why a show with those demographics does better in the fall against SNF than in the spring without it though.”

Because of the huge NFL lead-in for The Simpsons, that lifts the entire block.

I hope The Simpsons will be Renewed too soon :) Happy for Bob’s Burgers !

  • Oliver

A 5th season for stripped syndication was guaranteed as soon as it got renewed for a fourth.

That’s the only cartoon I don’t record on animation domination…it’s just not funny…I miss king of the hill. … sigh

GREAT! I just hope that The Simpsons ends it’s run this year. Season 25 seems to be a good stopping point. I’d like to see the future of Animation Domination going something like this in the 2014 – 2015 season.

    8:00pm – Bob’s Burgers
    8:30pm – Murder Police
    9:00pm – Family Guy
    9:30pm – New animated show

I think that would be an excellent lineup. Keep Family Guy as the anchor for the night, use Bob’s burgers as the anchor for 8pm since it’s getting stronger with Adult Swim repeats. Murder Police if it does well could slide into 8:30pm and preform solidly, then use the still strong Family Guy as a lead in for a new animated show.

The mother’s voice on the Burger show cracks me up. I think it’s actually a man voicing it.

  • Eric

The Simpsons has already been renewed for season 26.

  • KOTH1

Bob’s Burgers is the only decent animated show left on Fox. Nothing beats King of the Hill, which should have never been canceled for another crappy Seth MacFarlane show.

  • CBSviewer

    @ JoshuaCanada

FOX shouldn’t end The Simpsons because it’s still making a LOT OF MONEY. Plus FOX won’t end two of their veteran animation this season !

  • CBSviewer

    @ Eric

How do you know that ?

  • Oliver

Are people really still complaining that KotH was cancelled after 13(!) seasons? Seriously?

  • hello

Simpsons is renewed through the 25th production-cycle, and that means if the cycle consists of 22 episodes there will be 7 episodes pushed over to the 2014/2015 season

Bobs needed that 5th season to reach syndication numbers, that’s no surprise. However i’m not so sure about the show’s future after that. The ratings last season where only a bit better than Cleveland so…season 5 might be it.

  • Dan

Well after dumping The Cleveland Show and soon American Dad, I’m really not surprised. Plus They did need that season for Syndication

13+22+22+22+22 = 101, so the series will be in syndication within 2 years.

i wish they would have went ahead wth the flintstones reboot

I just hope that The Simpsons ends it’s run this year.

FOX has already ordered enough episodes of The Simpsons that it will air next season. Also, it commands one of the highest ad rats on TV, it’s probably not going anywhere until the cast decides that it’s enough.

The Simpsons isn’t making “LOTS” of money for FOX. The actors all took pay cuts last season and its ratings weren’t outstanding last season. They certainly profit off the show, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see episodes in the mid 1’s this season (we saw a few high 1’s last season).

Looks like Fox are sticking with Animation Domination even after farming off American Dad!, then.

Starting next fall, they will only be losing one Sunday to baseball, which will make it much more desirable to premiere a new show in the fall (where they can take advantage of football as well as airing every week).

However, in order do so, they had to drop down to only three shows, because airing five in the fall just wasn’t working.

    Expected fall lineup next season:

7:00 – Bob’s Burgers repeats and NFL football
7:30 – Murder Police repeats if it hits, otherwise The Simpsons repeats and The OT
    8:00 – The Simpsons
    8:30 – (New Show) or Bob’s Burger’s
    9:00 – Family Guy
    9:30 – Bob’s Burger’s or (New Show)

If Murder Police hits, its second season would return in the spring.
