    What’s your point?

That your statement was factually incorrect? Maybe it was just poor English, but you seemed to imply that the timeslot was week because Idol had dominated it for long time, which simply is not the case.

  • Ultima

Of course it has a lead-in. Often, those syndicated shows leading up to the 8pm slot are better rated than primetime shows

No, the syndicated lead-ins at 7:30pm are often better rated than the 8pm shows on The CW. Huge difference.

However, to your larger point, you are correct in that there’s not nothing on in the 7pm hour. That’s still part of primetime (even though it’s usually programmed locally) and it’s where most of the highest rated syndicated shows air (usually sitcoms, game shows and entertainment news).

    I hate dopey sitcoms !!!

  • Ultima

it’s just plain silly to compare an 8pm show that is doing worse than a 10pm show and claim it’s doing better.

This part of your statement is also correct! :)

I am shocked time and time after again that NASHVILLE isn’t getting 3.0+. The show is so well acted and it’s flow is amazing. THANK YOU ABC for such a great show.

I watched SVU and both episodes where fine. It’s great to see it way up, that’s for sure!

Why did X-FACTOR spike? was it a heavily promoted episode?

I can’t wait till those hideous CBS shows go lower and lower! Survivor is OKAY but Criminal Minds and CSI (this old train is way out of steam!) need to be put down. They will only go lower. If only CBS would take a hint from ABC but they will continue with the same formula and the same old OLD actors. WITH THAT SAID- I do like MOM, The Good Wife and Under The Damn was good the first few episodes but it lost me after episode 6.

I don’t watch Revolution it kinda seems like yesterdays news too..lol

Why do people act like a lead-in matters? Retention has nothing to do with anything. When you watch your show, do you watch the show that comes on after it just because it comes on after it? Get real.

Retention per se is mostly meaningless (it’s useful for comparing different lead-outs of a highly rated show).

However, strong lead-ins can be very important for exposing younger shows to new audiences. Look no further than House for an example of this. Clearly American Idol viewers watched the show that came after it just because it was on after it (House had already been on for a couple of months and was at a level of ratings that would certainly lead to cancellation).

You’re hilarious! “Megahit” on a Friday? That’s rich. First of all the actors on that show are extremely old and irrelevant it would be doing BLUE BLOODS numbers no doubt on Friday. I also think SURVIVOR had a lot of “turning CBS around” sure CSI was doing great like 12 years ago (CSI) but now it’s a horrible show.

You make NO SENSE! Of course ABC renewed NASHVILLE lol Missing was doing low 1’s

  • Ultima

    Why did X-FACTOR spike?

The lack of other reality competitions (Big Brother, AGT) as competition?

  • Ultima

You’re hilarious! “Megahit” on a Friday? That’s rich

No, your lack of reading comprehension is what’s hilarious.

He said “[CSI] was a huge mega hit.” There’s nothing inaccurate, hilarious, rich, etc. about that statement.

  • JR35

    Pretty strong numbers for SVU.

  • Ultima

sure CSI was doing great like 12 years ago

Also, CSI was doing great up until four years ago. Ridiculous exaggerations make for silly arguments.

I was referring to the suggestion of moving CSI to Fridays and it being billed as a “final season” making it a “megahit”…that’s insane

  • BigBrotherFan

Ted Danson I cannot imagine being a big 18-49 draw

    I re read the comment

My bad that is what he said

  • Mumbo

CBS having a pretty bleh start to the season ratings-wise. Their old shows like Survivor, Criminal Minds, and CSI are still pretty solid but nothing to write home about.

Thursday night should be their strongest night, obviously, with an hour of Big Bang, but with Mom’s meh reception they may be a little nervous about The Crazy Ones.

I don’t understand why everyone is saying “Revolution” did OK and “Nashville” is the loser. I dislike both shows but a 1.8 for “Revolution” as an 8pm drama is incredibly bad. It’s sad too because the premise of “Revolution” is great. Too bad the writing is some of the worst I have ever seen even for NBC. “Nashville” has bad writing as well. The story line is better suited for daytime soaps then it is primetime.

  • POIFanatic

@NateG: Too bad you didn’t actually watch the premiere of season 2. Alongside the remarkably positive reviews its getting from critics, even the haters are eating their words now.

  • POIFanatic

@Nate: I was talking about Revolution. Also, many are comparing the lead-in those shows are getting no matter how irrelevant that is and probably to also shut the haters who were saying it’ll crash and burn without The Voice.

  • Jacques

Love ‘The Middle’ winning it’s slot. It totally deserves more!

  • Fed Fan

Even though CBS strugles at the start of the season, i think they will eventually start winning wednesdays. I can’t see any of their shows going further down. CSI should go back up above 2.0, and Survivor usually has a tendency to rise as the season goes on. While ABC won’t have a Modern Family combo every week, and Fox’s X-Factor would decline after a couple of weeks.
