Hawaii Five-0 has its Friday debut at 9PM tonight after three seasons in the Monday 10PM timeslot. Will fans still tune in? Last year's premiere earned a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating, and its finale rose to a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. Make your predictions below about the Hawaii Five-0 seas0n four premiere and let us know what you think in the comments!

For the record I’ll watch H50 but I say no more than 1.5. IF it does better then CBS could move it back to Mon assuming Hostages drops in the ratings from its lowly premiere.

  • shogun

    1.6 and that’s being generous.

So, to the experts out there, how much of a ratings decline should a show be forgiven for for moving to friday? 0.5 points about right?

  • Mon

It’s not moving back to Mondays whatever happens to Hostages. It wouldn’t have done better than Hostages anyway. So what will happen when Intelligence is about to premiere, H50 moves back to Fridays again? That will just kill the show. Let H50 set in nicely on Fridays.

  • David Howell

1.6 and then a wipeout coming later.

  • Paul P

Agree with other comments – very low – 1.1

  • Wright

I don’t watch the show anymore, but I hope it does well. The cast is great.

My favorite scripted drama. Sure, the over-the-top action that made the show so noteworthy in Season 1 has dissapated somewhat, but it’s still a fun show with beautiful scenery (Kono). Also, Hawaii looks nice, too!

will premiere around 1.5 and then dump around in the lower 1’s, most likely resulting in cancellation. even though i dont watch it i’ll miss it and the Monday 10PM castle vs. H50 banter here on this site. but who knows, maybe it will be moved back to mondays.

H50 averaged 2.1 last season (not including the post-football game), and a move to Fridays supposedly means a 70% drop in addition to any season to season drops. 70% * 2.1 = 1.5, so I will say a generous 1.6 premiere before dropping to 1.3 or so for most of the season.

” It might end up on Sunday night eventually, but not this season.”

While I can see a possible return to Mondays in the case of even lower ratings for Hostages, I think the retirement progression is Fridays as the final stop. I am not sure how it would do against Sunday Night network football but then again it has always been up against Monday Night Football,

  • Bill

I said less than 1.5 I’m guessing a 1.3 with around 6-7 million viewers. People here keep saying to move it to Mondays if Hostages drops much further…. But what would CBS put at Friday? Burn off Hostages? I don’t think that would be done, CBS moved H 50 bc the ratings weren’t good I. Monday

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

    I am mathematically challenged but isn’t a drop from 2.1 to 1.5 a 28% drop?

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

I think where my confusion was when you said:

” and a move to Fridays supposedly means a 70% drop in addition to any season to season drops.”

    Where perhaps you meant:

*and a move to Fridays supposedly means retention of only 70% of the previous season’s average……*
*and a move to Fridays supposedly means a 30% drop in addition to any season to season drops”

  • SJ

1.4-1.5 at most. The show is on its way out.

  • Will

1.3-1.5. The change to Friday signals the fact that CBS don’t have faith that the show can continue to actively compete against the competition hence the move to what most refer to as the “dead night” of primetime television…….

This show probably wouldn’t have even been renewed if it hadn’t been within a season of the 88 episodes needed for syndication. And it can’t be cheap to make. They’ll produce all 22 episodes but slim chance of a fifth season. Hopefully they have a plan for a season finale when it ends up getting cancelled (or at least don’t end with a cliffhanger).

Probably the best thing working in its favor is the bad performance of other CBS dramas, it could hang in there if it can bring up ratings a bit and enough other CBS dramas completely tank.

I think if H50 gets a 1.5, it’ll be a good night. It premiered to 1.8 last year on Mondays and Friday nights have been a disaster for shows lately. Even CBS, who used to be able to do decently, has slipped this past year. 1.5 is a generous prediction. Something more like 1.3 or even 1.2 is more realistic.
