Patrick and Sabrina are getting boring even with robin back . the best thing about gh now is micheal anna luke and duke. get with it abc ratings are starting to rise so maybe the buget can a liitle bit.

A quick note about the CBS/Time Warner dispute…while the blackout affected major cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Dallas, it only affected the people watching on Time Warner Cable. If you lived in these cities and had, for example, Dish Network or DirecTV, you could still watch the local CBS affiliate.

Based on the ratings during the TWC blackout (both primetime and daytime) there was very little movement, which indicates that Time Warner Cable had only a small amount of customers in these markets.

@mike I will have to check out that Hallmark show. Sounds a little like Peyton Place, which I loved.

  • Joey S

The vets like Genie Francis, Kin Shriner, Lynn Herring have not been on in weeks. Yet the ratings have been up so foe anyone to say the vets not being in will tank the ratings is just not true.

I don’t think Genie is gone, she did say a few weeks back that she has never been on contract and only been recurring. That seems to be GH’s way of still using thet vets but staying within the budget that ABC gives them.

Considering she has been mentioned in story consistently I doubt she is gone completely. If she is recurring and is not appearing she wouldn’t necessarily be listed in the credits. They could list it but may not be. If she was gone I would assume she would have said something about it already

  • Mike

    Joey S.

This girl that mentioned it is the one that does the monthly cast appearances, etc. for GH for SON and other sites.

She said that Genie Francis has been listed with the contract players since her return and was listed with them in the cast at all times.

She said Genie made her last appearance on August 28 and was listed with the contract players until September 6. Since then nothing.

In the ratings thread one other poster stated she was gone.

And then one other person stated that recent intel from backstage insiders states that Genie is gone but it happened at the last minute as she was scheduled to be involved in stories coming up in October.

  • Mike

Oh and Joey S. I had heard the complete opposite from her about contract. She even said at the fan gathering that she had a short term contract but that they had refused to talk about anything long term.

That was during all that which was reported where Frank V. said that GH was still getting hit by budget cuts.

  • jonboyelk

I personally feel that GH has not used their vets to full potential. They are basically “filler.”. The only one who gets any type of real okay is, deservadly, Tracy. It’s still pretty much The Sonny Show, something that drove it to near cancellation close to a year ago.

  • jonboyelk

That was supposed to be real “play”, not real “okay.”. What good is word prediction anyway?

  • Joey S

The vets have been filler and I honestly think that was the plan all along. With the exception of the 50th the vets only brought small gains and there were some days there were on and some weeks they were on that numbers actually dropped.

It is all about the stories. The last month there has been some great stories going on with GH and that is why the numbers are up not because of anyone in particular

  • Joey S

As to Genie Francis being gone there has been no response on the board at her official website. Here website still lists the GH address to send her fan mail. Her twitter account has not had anything stating one way or the other. So until there is something official I would consider it just to be rumor.

  • Mike

GH could be playing the same card as Days is. They have yet to say anything official about Drake Hogestyn and Bryan Dattilo being gone but they clearly are.

I can’t say how the vets have been used or not. I don’t watch so I don’t know. But the vets returning to the show have been good publicity for GH and something that ABC and Frank V. have used. I have noticed that when publicity starts going bad for them they will pull out a story for a vet or a new return to turn the bad publicity around. Whether the vets are filler or not it is good publicity and makes people quickly forget what they were hating about the show.

GH never said anything officially about Jackie Zeman or Tristan Rogers or Emma Samms being gone when they left or ended their runs. So I doubt they would say anything about Genie either. That would be bad publicity. It is better to leave fans thinking they will return. And when they do say something official then.

  • Joey S

Jackie Zeman was always clear that she would be only on for a few episodes during the 50th and that she was open to more but that Frank Valentini told her at this time there was no budget for it.

Tristan Rogers we were under the impression he’d be around longer than he was. Same with Emma Samms.

Then again there were also reports that Robin Mattison was gone but yet she shows up for a few episodes every couple of months so who really knows.

I am sure to make room for Kimberly McCullough as Robin there had to be some cuts elsewhere.

Kin Shriner I believe is going to become the District Attorney and be involved in the AJ trial for COnnie’s murder

The story broke today that Vicki Drummer who replaced Frons at ABC is working on a new talk show for daytime (some say syndicated) starring Monique for Sept 2014. She insists it is not a replacement for Katie but Katie’s contract will be up by then.

If it is daytime where is Drummer planning on putting it?

  • Joey S

@Mike the ratings have been low for Katie so it could be replacing her. Or it could be a new syndicated show as ABC can have more than one show to release in syndication(many forget the daytime version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is distributed by ABC).

But I am sure there will be people who will insist that GH will be cancelled in 2014, as they said in 2012 and 2013. Cannot wait to start reading the speculation on this. Yes it is a possibility it could be, but there are plenty of other possibilities as well.

Let the speculation begin and the hundreds of posts from people saying this means GH is cancelled in 2014.

  • Joey S

Hopefully this will stop the speculation, the new talk show will be a syndicated show according to Hollywood Reporter. The article also states that it is in talks but nothing firm has been decided on it

Mo’Nique, the actress and comedienne who won a best supporting actor Oscar for her work in the 2009 big-screen drama Precious, is working on a syndicated talk show with ABC/Disney that could launch as soon as September 2014, according to sources.

The show, expected to be aimed at the daytime audience, has not yet been given a firm go, but it is being developed by Vicki Dummer, executive vp current series and specials, for the ABC Entertainment Group.

She most recently had a BET talker, The Mo’Nique Show, which ran from 2009-11. She also wrote Skinny Women Are Evil: Notes of a Big Girl in a Small-Minded World (and a companion cookbook).

  • Mike

She definitely fits in with the other story that said they were looking for a name to do a new talk show. And she has the history of child abuse and all like Oprah did.

My bet is that it will replace Katie. Even though she debuted up this year and is now in the Top 5 Syndicated talkers, I just don’t see them sticking with Katie. I think there is some truth to the rumor that some at ABC want Katie to replace Barbara Walters at The View.

I had thought that ABC might want to interfere with their daytime lineup esp. The View with it’s ratings dropping, but now that it is back up and with The Chew and GH both doing well I think they will stick with them. Esp if they can continue to cut GH’s budget.

  • jonboyelk

Oh Lord, not another yap fest.

  • Mike

There are 3 new ones already announced for next fall. I know one of them is Marie Osmond and I forget who the others are.

  • jonboyelk

How much crap is there to talk about, for crying out loud? I guess there must be an audience for it. But not in my home.
