Will the rest of ABC line up be in repeats?

  • r0ckmypants

Is something big on another network that night? Seems odd to preempt The Middle when this could replace Back in the Game instead for the week (and probably get better ratings).

  • Jagger Dagger

The Simpson’s called. They want their idea back.

  • rob60990

Ridiculous that The Middle has to be preempted for this nonsense.

  • Dan

@Rockmypants – the main reason the middle is preempted is to space out the 100th episodes of it and Modern Family by two weeks. October 9 and 23. Also ABC has the Middle for 24 episodes this whole season and its a proven success. They probably want both of their new shows to get additional exposure.

Last I checked, Prep and Landing was the first Special from Disney Pixar for television.

  • Jon23812

@rob60990, technically The Middle isn’t preempted, because this special had already been scheduled for that day and time in advance.

  • r0ckmypants

@Jon23812 – If The Middle is not airing in its timeslot because something else is, it’s preempted, regardless of when this airing was planned. At some point, ABC said, “We’re airing this special instead of The Middle.”

  • AppleStinx

Disappointing. When I read the headline, I thought it had to do with Chuck or at least the muscle toy-doll with tiny head that pummeled its victims to death (forgot name of the movie).

    @Martin
Prep & Landing was the first TV special to originate from Disney’s in-house animation studio. They’re correct in saying TSOT is the first for Pixar, not WDAS.

I expect it’ll pull a 3.6 at the highest, which could lift Back in the Game to as high as a 2.9. It does not hurt to have some added exposure.

  • Dan

@Ram510 – No, Modern Family will be a new episode as well as new eps for freshman comedies Back in the Game and Super Fun Night. It would seem silly to have repeats especially of new shows this early in the season.

It will probably help out Back in the Game and while many note that the premiere of that show was low, remember it did hold on to a good chunk of its Middle lead in. That’s really what matters most.
