10/3 Update: Sleepy Hollow has been renewed for a second season.
-
Dads and The Mindy Project both stumbled badly out of the gate, and both are likely to be canceled by the end of the season. While the bear doesn't predict the timing of any moves, it's worth noting that second season shows are typically allowed to air their entire season of ordered episodes, regardless of their eventual fate at the end of the season.

This season will be American Dad's final season on Fox (it will continue on TBS), and Glee has already been renewed for the 2014-15 season.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2014
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2014
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Things are looking good, shows I don’t care about are likely to get canceled and the one I like are either certain to be renewed or likely to be renewed.

  • smith

I was surprised at how much I liked Sleepy Hollow so I hope that gets renewed.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the only other show on that list I care about, so I’m hoping FOX gives it a really long leash and gives it time to grow.

  • @TheEmulator23

Prefered Mindy’s show towards the end of last year. This year is starting to get that over-polished too many cooks in the kitchen feel. Over it.

  • Kate

Sleepy Hollow is entertaining and I’m enjoying it so far, but I think it’s best kept as a limited series like The Following. I fear that if they go ahead and give it a full 22 episode season, there would be quality lost.

  • Elijah

Lets put it into perspective for all of you Bob’s Burgers haters.

    Bob’s Burgers 2.2 18-49 Rating

    Bones 2.2

    Dads 1.3

    Brooklyn Nine-Nine 1.4

    New Girl 1.9

    The Mindy Project 1.5

And Glee last week had a 2.0, it probably won’t go above a 2.2 this week.

  • Dan

Sleepy Hollow will get a full season with great ratings and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will get one with not so great ratings. Similar to The Mindy Project, B99 is modestly rated and produced by NBC so FOX wont benefit from it yet, they will give it time to grow.

  • Nick

I think that FOX will renew all animation domination on Sunday. I feel that this is going to be that last season of Glee, Mindy, and Dads. Sleepy Hallow will return next year along with bones, new girl. I do not have high hopes for The X factor though, I think this will be its last season.

  • starship

After both Brooklyn 9-9 and Dads fell below Mindy’s numbers this week and with New Girl below 1.9 already, I don’t see Mindy going anywhere. Not until all the other comedies premiere and do better (which lets be honest ain’t happening)…

  • Matthew Chapman

Sleepy Hollow has just bagged the first renewal of the 2013-14 season.

  • Sarah

I’m happy about Sleepy Hollow, but, at the same time, that slims Bones’ chances for a 10th and final season. :(

  • Adam Decker

I could go either way with Dads. I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t mind it being cancelled. And for those who don’t like Glee, remember that it is still very highly rated in the demographic and that’s why they wouldn’t kill it any time soon.

  • JacobYates

    @Elijah
Nobody’s hating on Bob’s Burgers right now. To be honest, I haven’t seen many Bob’s Burgers haters ever. What’s your point?

  • HeadlessHorseman (formerly JacobYates)

    @Nick
For the final time Glee is already renewed! What is so hard to understand about that?

  • KJ Styles

@Joesph- If the bear strikes CBS first, it will be We Are Men that becomes the bear’s first meal, not Mom.

I could see FOX’s Dads or ABC’s Lucky 7 becoming the first meal as well though.

  • james

i dont understand the hate towards dads. its on a level higher than comedies like the big bang theory. i assume everyones judging it based on the reviews from a while back by people with a very limited sense of humor.

  • skyfi

You waited too long with SH. As I said before, all high-rating shows should have “certain to be renewed” after first episode. Then you can get down it.

  • CBSviewer

The Simpsons has been Renewed for Season 26 :)

  • spinthesky

It’s still too soon to tell for FOX Tuesdays. The numbers are horrible all around, but Mindy is the only show that is keeping its audience. Dads and B99 have been dropping substantially from week to week. I’m thinking the next few weeks will really be the deciding factor.

Also, since some of you seem to have forgotten. Glee has already been renewed for season 6! The numbers for that show right now aren’t great, but I’m curious to see how their Cory Monteith tribute episode next week will fare.

  • GilThompson

You’ve got to be kidding me? Sleepy Hallow is the dumbest show in the history of television. You have to be a special kind of moron to like this garbage. The headless horseman shooting at people with machine guns? Seriously? And people want it renewed? No wonder TV sucks so badly. For shame.

  • Reality

American Dad is ending yet the abomination known as Bobs Boogers is staying. Shocking!!!!!
