Lucky 7

Lucky 7 has been canceled by ABC after just two low rated episodes. This week's installment garnered a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating. It will be replaced, for now, with repeats of Scandal.

Unfortunately I was right about my prediction for first cancellation, I really liked both episodes…

Will Lucky 7 continue to film all 13 episodes? Or will they just shut down production now that its cancelled after only 2 episodes? It just seems like ABC didnt have much faith in this series from the beginning and would be pointless to air 11 more episodes as a burnoff.

  • Dochas

Is this the earliest cancellation to date? Not just this season but seasons past?

  • CBSviewer

We Are Men and Welcome to the Family are the next cancelations.

  • Max

I really hope we are men is next

Only surprised that it was green-lit in the first play. I don’t think Scandal is going to do well in the slot but I guess they don’t really have much choice since they need time to promote whatever show they plan on putting in there.

For those wanting the rest of the filmed episodes, keep an eye out to see if one of the foreign broadcasters continues to air the show … if they do, odds are with our good friend Google you will be able to locate those episodes within hours of broadcast.

Condolences to the fans as well as the cast & crew. I didn’t watch and had no plans to watch, no offense intended but … who greenlit this? To me, IMHO, the whole premise seemed doomed to failure from the get-go.

    ymmv

PS: Bring back Big Red for spackle purposes like this.

@Dochas, Definitely not. From the top of my head, shows cancelled after 2 episodes in the previous three seasons were: Lone Star, My Generation, Made In Jersey, Do No Harm.

    @Dochas No: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_television_series_canceled_after_one_episode

maybe the show was named after the 7 people who actually liked it. LOL :-)

    Ricky,

Unforgettable was uncanceled mere weeks after cancelation, I believe when all principals were under contract still. That would not be the case with BOP.

I would seriously doubt the show could be up and running (with sets likely struck and creative probably having moved on) any time during the regular 2013-2014 season.

Not sure how accurate this is, but the Lucky 7 Wikipedia page shows titles for 5 episodes, with episodes 3, 4 and 5 classified as “unaired” — seems reasonable, since production should have been at least a few weeks ahead of broadcast.

Most likely this will not appear as a burn-off, My Generation was released to online only and that was the only other ABC show in recent memory to be cancelled after 2 episodes.

And I know this does not excuse cancelling old shows but I seriously doubt Body of Proof would have done as bad as a 0.7 in this slot…

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

I can’t imagine production is complete in the 13 episodes of the initial order. Production will likely be stopped and airing and watching how ever many remaining episodes they got done (? 6,7, 8) would be senseless.

This is a different situation from 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort where the writers were given enough time to wrap things up to some degree or like Zero Hour where the episodes were filmed with a built in conclusion of sorts as part of the original plan.

I suppose they could do like CBS and air the remaining episodes on Saturday burnoff but there is college football to be watched. Also I am not sure but wasn’t Made in Jersey more procedural in nature?

I never even got through the trailer. Looked so awful.

  • Dochas

@Cyrax86 and Tommie – Thank you. I didn’t even remember these titles.

  • eridapo

Good for you bear… Your first tasty meal of the new season….

  • harry

As i said earlier this week , the person that ordered episodes after having seen lucky 7s pilot must have been drunk or he had smoked something. No other explanation how else that series was picked .

  • rsg junior

Guess I can delete those two episodes off my DVR

This show is so unoriginal. They had a movie and another TV series about people winning the lottery. I am flabbergasted that ABC would put this on the fall schedule. There was not a chance this would succeed.
