SNL Miley Cyrus

Despite a 27-minute delay in its start time due to a football overrun, this week's  episode of Saturday Night Live with host and musical guest Miley Cyrus averaged a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating in the 25 markets with local people meters matching last week's season premiere.

via press notes:

  • Despite a 27-minute delay in its start time due to a football overrun, “Saturday Night Live," with host and musical guest Miley Cyrus (4.5/13 in metered-market households from midnight-1:30 a.m. ET [actual start time was 11:57 p.m. ET], 2.7/14 in adults 18-49 in the Local People Meters) has equaled the show’s top 18-49 rating (2.7) in the Local People Meters since April 13 (with host Vince Vaughn and musical guest Miguel).  The 2.7 ties both last week’s season premiere (with host Tina Fey and musical guest Arcade Fire) and the show’s May 18 season finale (with host Ben Affleck and musical guest Kanye West).  The 4.5 in metered-market households is within 4% of last week’s season-premiere 4.7 despite this week’s 27-minute delay.
  • Versus the same night last year, “Saturday Night Live” is up 23% in 18-49 ratings in the Local People Meters (2.7 vs. 2.2 on October 6, 2012) and is matching the year-ago 4.5 rating in metered-market households, despite the 27-minute delay in this year’s start time.
  • “Saturday Night Live” ranks as the #1 telecast of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 rating in the Local People Meters, outscoring all primetime programs on those networks.
  • National ratings, including viewer totals, for last night’s “Saturday Night Live” are due from Nielsen on Thursday, October 10.

If was a NFL game delay would avarage higher.

I was waiting for her to take her top off, as it was reported that she wanted to do that at the VMA’s. Perhaps ‘older Miley’ helped prevent that. Certainly Miley’s ‘acting’ didn’t…

  • Luis

Disappointing. Her fans promised she’d break records and have the highest ratings of the season.

  • charmedcraft

Ok, so the ratings were flat with last weeks ratings. Why are they trying to make is sound like she accomplished something? Tina Fey accomplished it first a week ago.

  • Stan

I stop watching it after last year finale. Its really not that funny anymore. It feels like its getting more desperate getting people like Miley Cyrus to host it now. And was we going to see something different or was she going to show more of her adult side again? ….Its pathetic and she’s going to be all wash up fast.

  • Brendon

Miley sang in both songs actually has a great voice!~!!!~!!!!

  • Blue

I think a growing number of people have seen all of Miley Cyrus they want to see. I get rebellion and shock value, and I kind of feel sorry for her because she has to grow up right in front of everybody, and growing up can be messy. But after the VMAs, and I only saw few pictures in an article, I’ll pass. Maybe I’ll check back in five years. She is talented. Few people mention her comedic talents. Aside from singing, she is funny and does comedy well. I hope she doesn’t act like a drunken slut for much longer, but until then, I’m out.

SNL was very good last night with Miley. some of the best skits I’ve seen in a while on SNL. i’m a little heavier on the music side like maybe “In this Moment” or “Lzzy Hale”, but miley can sing.

“sometimes it’s not what you’re known for, but that you’re known”

  • Maximillian

It was a great episode, much better then the premiere.

  • Justin

And people wonder why she was asked back. Also she fits perfectly with the cast as opposed to other hosts that can’t do live tv to save their lives.

  • jenn

Aw people watched snl to get free porn. Miley= free porn Numbers not that impressive.

  • Frank

Last season the usual SNL rating was about 2.3 (with a few exceptions like season premiere, finale and Timberlake) so this 2.7 is a good number. Keeping in mind that it was delayed almost 30 minutes I would congratulate to SNL for that rating.
Also I can’t remember a season premiere which didn’t had a better rating than 2nd show – so Miley proved to be an highly (at least more than usual) anticipated host on Saturday.

  • Networkman

I felt that the skits were pretty strong last night for Miley. There was only one that really bombed. The cheerleading skit with the alien invasion was horrible. Other than that I found it to be rather entertaining. Kate Mckinnon is hilarious.

  • TimsDale4ever

I was thinking the exact same thing charmedcraft. Why is the entertainment industry so scared to say something negative about any celebrity? Regardless of what they do or don’t do it’s always reported as being so AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hel-luhr

I love how the press release says it’s the best since April, as if the show wasn’t on a 3 month hiatus during the summer and there have only been a handful of episodes since April.

  • Liz

I think the new crop of talent is looking strong. I thought it was a good show.
