Beauty-and-the-beast-7

Last year, the CW's reboot of Beauty And The Beast premiered to a decent (by CW standards) 1.2 adults 18-49 rating in the post Vampire Diaries timeslot. However, by the time the season finale rolled around, the series fell to a disappointing 0.5 adults 18-49 rating. Fast-forward to the present, and Beauty And The Beast has been moved Monday at 9PM, behind Hart Of Dixie. Will this shift help or hurt this sophomore series? Make your predictions about the adults 18-49 rating for tonight's second season premiere below, and don't forget to leave a comment defending your choice!

    @ Mark

The CW affiliates in the major markets are all controlled by CBS or the Tribune Company. The latter recently completed an acquisition that expanded its ownership of both Fox and CW affiliates. Further, the Tribune Company has recently entered into retransmission agreements with several cable companies that extend well beyond 2016. So, I doubt if the major affiliates are going to desert the CW.

Most of the other CW affiliates are held by media companies that also own affiliates of other networks. I suspect that the costs of purchasing programming from the CW are substantially lower compared to the other networks. So, don’t expect these guys to leave either.

You know, I really want The CW to find success with this night JUST because everyone (even myself included), thinks it’s going to be a disaster.

  • Sarah

BaTb = flop because bad actors and a show mediocre! 0.5

The concern is that the affilates could go network free, and program syndicated programming, the 7 pm hour does better year round with syndication then any night of the CW (once you factor in reruns). And those costs can be rather inexpensive.

And a station can be owned by a company like CBS and not actual be one of their affiliates,

I am not saying it will happen, but it is a concern (my word from my post) and one that especially currently on in years earlier we have little data to judge the chance of occurring, for either a new contract with the vast majority or a refusal to resign by a large number, or even a number large enough to really impact the decision to keep the CW open, as a broadcast network.

Early morning ratings are pretty ugly for BATB and Hostages.

  • Asashii

What sheep still watch watered down network TV. When you have the glory known as The cable original program. Heavily censored- mass produced, same tired formula-trough filled for the pigs slop. they cant even compete with the acclaim of the Cable big boys!!!

@Mark Wood, I’m no insider, but an acquaintance who’s business is selling data to local affiliates (all nets) views that as very unlikely. His take is that CW programming is cheap, and the independent alternative is relatively unattractive.

Because of football don’t have premiere here in NYC until the 12th. So Guessing low. Parts of NJ too. Not sure this is the best time to guess.

  • Jon

BatB is dead. The oversigt seem to indicate 0.2 or 0.3 that is just mind blowingly bad and its not even airing on a friday :-)

    The Voice – 4.5

@Sarah. I assume you’ve watched the whole season because you think BatB has bad actors! I don’t think so. If you watched it you would know that the actors are great! And the premiere ep yesterday was awesome. So different from last year. And in the first season it already got better and better with every ep. @Beauty and the Flop. Why are you so hateful towards BatB? Have a little respect for the big international fanbase. Or is that too much to ask? Don’t watch i it if you don’t like it but shut up about it.
