After a reasonably good start, Brooklyn 9-9 dropped behind The Mindy Project in its second week. It's now likely to be canceled, and The Mindy Project has been moved up to a "toss up" to be renewed or canceled. The Index, which uses the average of all airings hasn't quite "caught up" to the latest ratings, but the Cancellation Bear  predictions have.

As always predictions can change as ratings do, particularly early in the season. Stay tuned.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Mindy has been kinda flailing for a bit now. They didn’t seem to know where to head with it.

  • James

I wonder how long until Raising Hope goes to the 8pm slot on Tuesday. I don’t think it will air a single episode in the planned Friday timeslot.

  • Kimberly

I think Mindy is retaining viewers really well. If it stays where it is while the others (New Girl included) flounder, then it’ll definitely be renewed. I really like it and think it has found its footing; why can’t people give it another chance?

  • Tommy M.

    @ James,
I wonder how long until Raising Hope goes to the 8pm slot on Tuesday. I don’t think it will air a single episode in the planned Friday timeslot.

FOX has a few new comedies on their bench. They may try at least one of them before calling in Raising Hope.

  • David James

    @Kimberly

Agree with you there. The show seems to have levelled out and provided there’s no drops I agree it may well be renewed. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is still in its first season so there’s still much more room for it to drop compared to Mindy.

  • Daniel

FOX needs to cancel Dads FAST! That turd is dragging B99 down with it which is a shame.

  • Igwell

    No it isn’t.

  • THE OLD MAN

I agree with post in its entirety, but I’m outta here before One sees this!

  • Dan

Brooklyn 99 will get a full season while Dads will ride out its order. By Hanysry when the comedies return from their winter hiatus maybe fox will air one of their replacements.

Enlisted would pair well with B99 but for some reason that show got sent to Fridays.

Mindy will probably be cancelled in May. And Murder Police already got cancelled.

  • Eric McInnis

A shame B99 is likely for cancelation. It’s my favorite new show I’ve seen so far.

  • Babar Suhail

Fox just ordered more scripts for the show, so it will at least get a back nine order.

  • Ultima

    @Babar Suhail
Fox just ordered more scripts for the show, so it will at least get a back nine order.

Unless they don’t like the scripts…

  • Jonay

Why does FOX keep trying Tuesday at 8 and 8:30 comedies? they do not work try putting hotel hell there or Hell’s Kitchen!

  • AniMatsuri

Brooklyn 99 kind of ambushed viewers if all they had to go on was the promos shown on Fox.

Maybe it’s because the network is trying to placate the homosexual lobby or some of the writers are homosexual is the reason they made the stick in the mud authority character homosexual. Either way, once viewers figured it out ratings dropped.

  • Katherine

    Babar

More scripts does not equal a full back nine order. It means they are on the fence about a back nine order and want to see the scripts.

  • Kate

I’m calling it now… Tonight will be the last episode of Dads aired. I really don’t see it making it to next week. (unless by some odd chance they do well)

  • Babar Suhail

I didn’t mean more scripts = back nine order. I was merely pointing out that Fox is interested in keeping this show around if they are asking for more scripts. And it is likely

  • Carmen

    With regard to B99.

Its not too bad, but I can take or leave Andy Sandberg. I do like Andre Braugher, but his forte is not comedy.

I don’t think Fox will give up on it too easily. It will get an extended chance – probably elsewhere in the week or moved up to 8:00 Tuesday.

    @ Hibbidy
Mindy has been kinda flailing for a bit now. They didn’t seem to know where to head with it.

I have to reluctantly agree. Some scenes are funny and insightful, but somehow the whole thing somehow doesn’t come quite together. I would keep the character of Danny and maybe the male nurse, but jettison the others.
Get rid of the preacher boyfriend. That story line is not working.

  • Joseph

    @AnniMatsuri:

    >Maybe it’s because the network is trying to placate the homosexual lobby or some of the
    >writers are homosexual is the reason they made the stick in the mud authority character
    >homosexual.

Because everyone is heterosexual there must be a reason a character is homosexual, right? And if anyone is non-white there has to be an inside motivation too, right? Everyone on television’s supposed to white, heterosexual and Christian and there must be some lobby or hidden agenda when a television show doesn’t look lily white or as straight an arrow, correct?

Somebody’s been watching too much CW.

  • Mark

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the ONLY comedy that I am watching this year
