The CW officially kicked off its fall 2013 season last week up year over year. For the week ending 10/6/13, The CW was up across the board versus the same week last season, +32% in total viewers (1.37M vs. 1.04M), +32% in women 18-34 (0.7/2 vs. 0.5/2), +21% in adults 18-34 (0.5/2 vs. 0.4/1) and +25% in adults 18-49 (0.5/2 vs. 0.4/2).
For the week of September 29, THEwas ranked #6 in Nielsen’s Twitter TV ratings for non-sports programming, and was the #2 drama on television, behind only .
LIVE + 3 DAY RATINGS FOR THURSDAY:
With Live + 3 Day delayed viewing counted, both THEand saw big gains compared to Live + Same Day ratings for their Thursday night premieres.
In L+3 ratings, the season premiere of THEjumped +53% in adults 18-34 (1.26 vs. 1.93), +57% in women 18-34, more than a full point (1.77 vs. 2.79), +43% in total viewers (2.59M vs. 3.7M), and +54% in adults 18-49 (1.22 vs. 1.88).
The percentage of viewers time-shifting this season’s THEpremiere nearly doubled versus last season, when THE saw increases of about 26% in L+SD vs. L+3 ratings in viewers and key demos.
series premiere also saw major increases with time-shifted viewing added in, with a huge +66% gain in women 18-34 (1.34 vs 2.22), a +58% increase in adults 18-34 (0.96 vs 1.53) and a +39% jump in total viewers (2.2M vs 3.07M).
In L+3 Day ratings,outrated last year’s series premiere of in the same time period by +17% in adults 18-34 and by +14% in women 18-34.
When digital streaming is added in, last season THE VAMPIRE DIARIES averaged a +63% gain in viewers per episode.
