CBS won its third consecutive Tuesday in viewers and placed first in adults 25-54 (tie) as NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and Person Of Interest all won their time periods, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Oct. 8.

NCIS was first in viewers (17.87m) and adults 25-54 (4.0/11) and averaged 2.7/08 in adults 18-49.  NCIS was Tuesday's #1 program among viewers and adults 25-54.

Updated Tuesday ratings will be available later today.

Editor's Note: Television viewing on platforms such as DVR, video-on-demand and online streaming continues to grow at a fast pace.  Last season during premiere week, Live+7 CBS audiences grew 20% over Live+SD in total viewers, up from 17%  in 2012.  In A18-49, Live+7 levels grew 29% from Live+SD, up from 23% one year ago.  Additionally, many CBS shows experienced as much as a 50% increase in total viewers once full 30-day multi-platform audiences were accounted for.  In an effort to quantify how much non-linear viewing adds to Live+SD audiences, CBS Research will provide estimates for series which will include DVR playback as well as multi-platform viewership.

Thank God lots of old people like NCIS!

Without NCIS, Big Bang Theory & NCIS:LA CBS would be in last place against the other networks. Thank god for NCIS.

Their lowest rated show for the night was 11 million viewers, but you actually want to argue that CBS is in the toilet…? Seriously? That’s more than any other show on the night.

“NCIS” was great last night. Loved the episode. Great writing and directing, and of course the acting was great. No Ziva isn’t hurting the show’s quality, but it does seem that some fans have abandoned the show…maybe. I remember that last year, “NCIS” took a similar dip in viewers and the demo. January is when “NCIS” usually climbs back up. Happens every year, from what I can remember.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” was really good. It’s such a cheesy show, but it does it with more charm than other cheesy shows of recent memory (“CSI: Miami”).

“Person of Interest” is such a great show. I hate to see it dipping after having such a successful second season. But with its new slot, who didn’t see that coming? No matter. It’s certainly going to get renewed.
I also know of a lot of fans that have ditched the show merely because of Shaw. I don’t know why. I find her character an interesting addition.

@Robbie, it wasns’t the move to tuesday for POI. The Season 3 premire was barly under the season 2 final, so practically everyone who was still watching at the end of season 2 tried out season 3’s premire. A lot of it Shaw. I’m one of the people who no longer watches due to her addition. She’s a detestable character that gives me zero enjoyment. Luckly I was already a fan of CF so I still have something to watch in the slot.

    Season 2 finale viewers: 13.16
    Demo: 2.4

    Season 3 premiere viewers: 12.44
    Demo: 2.3

Yeah, I guess they were pretty close. Still, the move and Shaw aren’t helping things. While I like Shaw, I know there are plenty of others that don’t. I wonder if they’ll listen to the fans and do away with her, bump her down to supporting, or just keep her.
    Doesn’t matter. I’ll keep watching.
