Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast

via press release:

ABC is Up Year to Year for the 3rd Straight Tuesday

ABC Tuesday Prime (8-11pm – 5.4 million and 1.8/5 in AD18-49): With its Tuesday night freshman lineup from 8-10pm and a repeat Scandal at 10pm, ABC was up year to year on Tuesday for the 3rd straight week in Adults 18-49 (+6% over 1.7/5 with an all-original schedule on 10/9/12), standing as the only major net to grow.   The Network outdelivered Fox’s Tuesday all-original lineup (3.4 million and 1.6/5) by 2.0 million viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (8-9pm – 7.7 million and 2.8/9 in AD18-49): Pacing within 3-tenths of the prior week’s Fast Affiliate rating - (3.1/10 – Please note: last week the show went up 2-tenths of a rating point in the Nationals to a 3.3 rating), ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ranked #1 in the 8pm hour, tying NBC’s The Voice (2.8/9) and beating in CBS’ NCIS (2.7/8).  It was the #2 TV show on Tuesday in Adults 18-49, just 1-tenth shy of NBC’s 2-hour The Voice for #1. For the 3rd week in a row, the ABC drama dominated its hour across all key Men demos (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54) to rank as Tuesday’s #1 TV show on all 3 measures.

·         The season’s #1 new TV show, S.H.I.E.L.D. more than doubled ABC’s Adult 18-49 delivery in the hour from the year-ago night (+115% over a Dancing special at 1.3/4).

·         Delivering increasing gains in early TV playback (+48% in Week 2 vs. +38% in Week 1), S.H.I.E.L.D.’s 2.8 Live + Same Day rating is projected to go up to a 4.1- 4.2 Adult 18-49 rating in the Live + 3 Day numbers (based on a 48% increase in L3 last week). The show has also been adding 3.5 million viewers in L3.

The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm – 5.7 million and 2.0/5 in AD18-49): At 9pm, ABC’s The Goldbergs was Tuesday’s most-watched comedy for the 3rd week in a row. The show delivered better than 90% audience retention week to week in Total Viewers (93%), Adults 18-49 (91%) and Adults 25-54 (100%).

Trophy Wife (9:30-10pm – 4.7 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):  At 9:30pm, Trophy Wife was up week to week by 9% in Total Viewers and held 100% of its Adult 18-49 delivery.
In its slot, Trophy Wife drew 1.7 million more viewers than Fox’s The Mindy Project and tied the Fox comedy in Adults 18-49.  It was the night’s 2nd-most-watched comedy, behind only The Goldbergs and leading all 4 of Fox’s sitcoms for the 3rd consecutive Tuesday.

I love spin. Makes me so much happier.

  • Jerry

Well the only comfort for SHIELD is that the 18-49 audiences for The Voice and NCIS fell even more, so that it manages to eke out a victory.

The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife must just hang on.

I think ABC definitely has higher tolerance for Tuesday, since all their shows die straight away like Happy Endings, Cougar Town, Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23, No Ordinary Family etc. If anything can deliver an improvement over last year, I think they might just hold on. Anything like a “Dancing With The Stars – Castle” solid #3 for the night combo I think will be acceptable to them.

  • Ryan

Agents of Shield is is the #1 new show? Hardly – the Blacklist is easily beating it right now.

  • Kissan

The Blacklist had a 3.1 but it had a 5.0 lead in which was The Voice. SHIELD doesn’t have a lead in.

  • Shepherd

SHIELD doesn’t have a lead in.

That’s right, because tv stations are nothing but color bars 21 hours a day.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

Dropping 3 tenths in 1 week is holding strong?

@Ryan – They’re using average rating. Because of that monster debut, The SHIELD still has a better average rating than The Blacklist.

  • LordClever

Shield is a show I am desperately trying to like but it just feels mediocre. Its like it is trying so hard to be clever that it misses the mark a little more every week. It doesn’t help that there has been three straight weeks of cliche plots and awkward attempts to tie back to the movies.

People need to watch Trophy Wife. After last night’s episode, it’s my new favourite series! It’s been too long since I laughed as much as I did watching this episode. Oh, and Diane is the best mum ever …

  • charmedcraft

I think they meant to write” Holding on to dear life.”

Can someone explain to me in what universe Shield’s numbers are better than those of NCIS which seems to have more viewers than Shield and The Voice combined. Anyone who has seen the show, even those like me, who looked forward to it, have to admit it’s kind of like Knight Rider without the charm or storytelling talent.

  • roju_7

    @Michael H.
It has better ratings in the 18-49 demographic. While NCIS easily has more people watching, it seems that most of those people are 50+ which doesn’t matter as much to advertisers as the 18-49 demo.

SHIELD is pretty good so far (although the leader of the group Coulson is weak) this mix of X-Files & Mission:Impossible deserves more viewing time. Surprisingly, the Goldbergs sit-com is a fun half hour reminiscent of Wonder Years with a feel of a simpler American suburban life. I have locked it in DVR for the season!
