“The Nine for IX brand has become a beacon for stories that matter to the modern sports fan,” said Skipper. “We are proud to continue this critically acclaimed series, providing fans a fresh, unique, and relevant point of view on the evolving landscape of women in sports.”
The Nine for IX Shorts series will be made available on multiple digital ESPN platforms and rolled out on TV, mobile devices and applications, and on the web via espnW and ESPN.com. The series will continue to be executive produced by Robin Roberts of Good Morning America and Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of Tribeca Productions.
espnW Impact 10
espnW also announced a new annual power ranking list – the espnW Impact 10 – recognizing the 10 female athletes who made a significant impact on and off the field during the past year.
“Landmark events and record-breaking achievements are placing female athletes at the forefront, creating some of today’s most compelling stories in sports,” said Laura Gentile, vice president, espnW. “We are excited to take it to the next level by identifying the 10 most influential female athletes of 2013 resulting in the inaugural Impact 10.”
The Impact 10 will highlight the athletes’ powerful stories and impactful moments from 2013 through videos, columns and articles, photo galleries and athlete profiles. SportsCenter will count down the top five athletes and show their video vignettes. The Impact 10 list will be determined by an industry panel of judges, with opportunities for fans to debate and vote on espnW.com and through Twitter. The countdown will debut on espnW and on SportsCenter.
