The Big Bang Theory was adjusted up two tenths, The X Factor and Glee were each adjusted up a single tenth,while The Millers and The Vampire Diaries were each adjusted down a single tenth among adults 18-49 versus the preliminary Thursday broadcast ratings.

Additional note: Since there was no adjustment, NBC's 1.1 adults 18-49 average stands as an all time Thursday low for the network.

    Kenny
    TVD – so Delena’s great love story is NOT bringing in the ratings.
    Too funny.

    It hasn’t EVER been about their love story, nor is it now..

    Shonda should think about ending Grey’s this year I think. I love the show but its viewership has really dwindled and now, Scandal, deservedly so, has passed it.

  • Steve A

    Lol @the Scandal haters. Its drop wasn’t as big as other Abc shows. And I’ll just leave it at that

    @Russell
    Total viewers do mean something and the demo 18-49 is not so important to CBS since they go by viewers and 25-54 demo.

    You’ll never find the droids that you’re looking for. :roll:

    You forgot “Remember Seinfeld!”

    How unfortunate, I would have loved to cut and paste my Seinfeld ratings rant! ;)

    @Charmed
    Cheers was almost cancelled after the first season, and look what it became.

    Yeah, that never happens anymore. In today’s world, there’s no way a show could premiere to absolutely atrocious ratings, avoid being canceled due to the overall dismal ratings of the network it’s on, be rescheduled behind a hit show, and then finally find ratings success.

    What? Thirty rocks? What does a pile of rocks have to do with TV ratings? Nothing to see here. /whistles

    Look at the biggest hit drama this season, Scandal. It wasn’t certain to get a second season, and it didn’t start to really get good until mid season, and look at it now. That’s what it used to be like.

    Since that just happened, isn’t that what it’s still like?

    Yes, there are occasionally shows which escape death to become hits. However, most of the time, shows with bad ratings just die.

    You’re delusional if you think that networks didn’t cancel low rated shows after one season or yank new shows off the air quickly 20, 30, 40 years ago.

    The Big Bang Theory: 17.64 million viewers

    The entire Thursday NBC lineup: 16.61 million viewers

    Methinks the Peacock network needs to start thinking damage control.

  • Cammy

    TVD ratings don’t count because it didn’t air on the east coast but it will air tonight

    The Vampire Diaries was only preempted in a single market, New York. It aired in ~94% of the country.

    NBC is doing worse this season than last. Terrible Thursday nights. Don’t know how that network is surviving. I think the bigger problem here is that it’s being beat by a well established comedy, The Big Bang Theory, which is stifling it’s core viewers to CBS.

    I like Parks and Rec, will try to watch it live because I don’t find the big bang theory interesting. And Parenthood I love, but its up against Elementary which I like to watch live.

    This is a very sad situation. I don’t think NBC will ever recover Thursday nights.

    so i have a question. in a situation like this where nyc would have been pulled out of the final numbers because it was airing football… does that mean it just loses on what the nyc marketshare would have been for the show? i mean, i guess i’m answering my own question. just seems a shame for tvd to hit a series low because of stupid football.

    Effectively. The preliminary ratings contain the NYC ratings for the football game because that’s what was on the CW in NYC, the final ratings are only for actual viewing of TVD across the country (which was nobody on the local CW station in NYC).

    this is why Parenthood shouldn’t have been moved!

    Why are we so judgmental about OUATW it’s in possibly the worst timeslot instead. Of canceling can ABC change time slot like maybe cutting Betrayal and putting it at 10:00 on Sunday it would even maybe bring up Revenge ratings by fans of ONCE keeping the show on while waiting for Wonderland. It would be a triple win for ABC

  • sexygoddamon

    This article was posted on friday Oct 11. According to the CWs Twitter page the episode would be preempted for football in NY and would air on sunday oct 13th. So apparently those viewers in NY who watched it on sunday didn’t count toward the final ratings and that’s why TVD ratings were adjusted Down.

    CBS & ABC numbers are still looking good with the exception of WONDERLAND ,

    NBC flat with last weeks low numbers which means some of these shows are not making it to a second season.
