Once Upon a Time Quite a Common Fairy

via press note:

ABC Sunday Prime (7-11pm – 5.4 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):  Opposite NFL and MLB competition from NBC’s Sunday Night Football and Fox with an NFL overrun and MLB Baseball Playoffs coverage, ABC’s Once Upon a Time and Revenge were Sunday’s Top 2 broadcast dramas in Adults 18-49 for the 3rd straight week, outdelivering CBS’ The Good Wife and The Mentalist.  Although facing increased competition, ABC held 100% of its Total Viewers and 94% of its young adult audience week to week.

Once Upon a Time (8-9pm – 7.4 million and 2.3/6 in AD18-49): More than doubling its lead-in at 8pm (+109%), ABC’s Once Upon a Time dominated its non-sports competition in the hour, outdelivering CBS’ Amazing Race by 28% (2.3/6 vs. 1.8/5).

Live + 7 Day Ratings:  In the first round of L7 for its season premiere, Once Upon a Time shot up 46% over its Live + Same Day number to grow to a 3.8 rating in Adults 18-49 in L+7 (versus 2.6 in L+SD). This year’s Adult 18-49 build in TV playback was bigger than last year’s premiere build (+46% vs. +36%).

Revenge (9-10pm – 6.0 million and 1.7/4 in AD18-49): During the 9 o’clock hour, ABC’s Revenge defeated CBS’ The Good Wife by 42% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/4 vs. 1.2/3).

Live + 7 Day Ratings:  The season premiere of ABC’s Revenge grew by more than 50% over its L+SD rating, going from a 2.3 to a 3.5 in L+7 (+1.2 rating points). Revenge’s L+7 increase with Adults 18-49 was much higher for this year’s premiere than for last year’s opener increase (+52% vs. +34%).

Betrayal (10-11pm – 3.0 million and 0.9/2 in AD18-49): During the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s Betrayal continued to outdeliver its CBS drama competition in Women 18-34, leading The Mentalist by 25%.

    ABC press releases are hilarious XDDDD

  • josh

    @Emma Swanlol

    But they are right you know ABC did beat CBS

  • Shepherd

    Wow! the CBS dramas took 3rd and 4th out of 5 dramas on the night. One is what, in its 6th season, and the other its 5th? Bravo ABC! ;-)

  • Nerdbot

    These press releases are so delusional. If it wasn’t for the syndication gods that “demand” that Once Upon a Time and Revenge get a fourth season, the fact that Revenge beats The Good Wife wouldn’t be enough to keep it away from the bear. I only hope the ratings get better or, in the worst case, that they announce that next season will be the last for Revenge (which would be a pity, because I’d be happier if it reaches the 100 episodes a la Fringe or Chuck.)

  • Matt M.

    There is absolutely no spinning in this press release for ONCE and Revenge. Both of them dominated over TGW and The Mentalist, which both garnered pathetic numbers, in the 18-49 demo (what matters the most). Yes, both are down a lot compared to last year. But they are still quite dominant over their competition.

    @Matt M.

    You do realize that the term spin is short for ‘spinning the truth’? All spin is 100% fact; it’s simply worded to give a misleading impression.

  • Chris_SAdvisor

    Spin indicates weakness, and ABC just embarrassed itself.

    At least the Nets are entertaining us with something. All their Press Releases are mostly Spin, mostly.

    C’mon, why ABC is claiming so much this season about their ratings?It seems that ABC is a old lady who just talk crap all day.

  • betty

    dear abc executives,please air all thirteen episodes of Betrayal.pls do not take it off your schedule till all episodes have aired.i really like it.
    Revenge will definitely get a fourth season.i hope they provide proper ending to this excellent drama in season four(since season 5 isnt very likely).

    You know the broadcast networks are having a hard time when their press releases have to say they have the top 2 BROADCAST dramas.

    Once Upon a time: 2.3
    The Walking Dead: 8.1

    Even Talking Dead, the talk show about Walking Dead pulled a 2.6

    Zombies > Fairytales
