Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Dish network is still not airing CBS stations. This may explain the lower numbers for CBS.

@Hel-Luhr – I think CBS is done “moving Good Wife Around”. For CBS shows go to either Sundays or Fridays to die.

The Good Wife and The Mentalist are done, and CBS will revamp Sundays maybe move Elementary or Hawaii 5-0 to that slot and move CSI to Fridays.

    @CBSViewer – I think when SJ said

I will say this: no way CBS doesn’t go back to the “premiere 3 dramas in the fall” formula next season

I think SJ meant that CBS will go back to that formula (double negative) so you are both in agreement as am I. If CBS cancels The Good Wife, Mentalist, and Hostages/Intelligence that’s 3 slots. They wont cancel Hawaii 5-0 because they could simply move the show to another slot so they have a returning drama.

CBS will focus on dramas next season after their comedy test is over this season but the two hour block will be kept.

Revenge should have never killed off its most likeable character.

    The dog.

  • Christian

@John A After the first season, Desperate Housewives was the epitome of mediocrity so WTF you talking about?! I can’t even take your opinions seriously anymore.

  • diana

@Joe revenge an embarrassment ? Oh please and u scandal fans that are trashing another r just pathetic ur show is doing no need to put down.another show @ Paris get a life and put yourself in a hole

  • Paris

OLIVIA SLEEPING WITH THE PRESIDENT IS NOT WHAT MADE SCANDAL A HIT.

THE SHOW STARTED TO RISE AFTER THE STEALED ELECTION CONSPIRACY AND CLIMBED EVEN FAST AFTER THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT.

ON EPISODE 14 OF SECOND SEASON THE SHOW SKIPPED SEVERAL MONTHS AND ALL THAT STORIES WAS CLOSED AND THEY INTRODUCED ANOTHER STORIES AND CHARACTERS AND STARTED ANOTHER POLITICAL PLOTS, SECRETS AND SCANDALS AND THE RATINGS DIDN’T STOPPED GROWING.

LAST WEEK PARKS AND RECREATION SHOWED TWO CHARACTERS TALKING ABOUT SCANDAL AND HOW THEY LOVE ALL CHARACTERS ON THE SHOW (EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST LADY).

PEOPLE LOVE THE CHARACTERS AND ARE OBSESSED WITH ALL THE POLITICAL PLOTS AND TWISTS. IF YOU BELIEVE SCANDAL IS ONLY ABOUT OLIVIA SLEEPING WITH THE PRESIDENT YOU ARE FOOLING YOURSELF.

I BELIEVE SCANDAL HAVE REACHED ITS PEAK BUT I DON’T THINK IT WILL FALL LIKE REVENGE. SCANDAL HAVE A SMART AND CREATIVE MIND BEHIND IT AND SHONDA IS SO OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW LIKE ANY OTHER FAN.

I’m not all that much up on the discussion around here these days but, even with numbers like these, the only thing that I can wonder is why The Good Wife is on Sundays. Granted, I’m confused about why it’s still on the air with the numbers it’s had this and the past two seasons, but obviously CBS has some serious faith in this show. Fox kept Fringe until its natural conclusion, but I don’t know if The Good Wife even has one, but even so, can’t it air in a spot that doesn’t have more potential

  • Nikki

Im guessing theres a delay on the cable ratings from last night.. interested to see how Witches of east end did. Loving that show.. and aunt wendy is my favorite.

  • KC

This Scandal vs. Revenge feud is funny. I like both shows… Is that okay? Anyways, I don’t know why people have to bash other shows to make their favorites look better. News flash, it doesn’t make the show look better, it makes it look worse. Common everyone. Can’t we all just get along?

  • KC

    @Terry
I wonder the same thing. I think the Good Wife would honestly do better on Fridays than Sundays. It would be sad if one of the best shows on tv has to end because of its ratings.

  • reidjr

    Paris

Most shows can only go so long before they get old and thats when you see ratings drop it does not matter how good the people are behind the show it will start to wear on fans after some time look at Ncis my point is don’t think Scanadal is going to be high in the ratings for years to come.

  • Hel-luhr

    @dan

I wouldn’t agree Sunday is a place CBS moves things to die, I simply think they counter program against what they know is a heavy prestige drama night. I’m not entirely sure CBS sees Fridays as the graveyard either as they tried launching stuff like that Patrick Wilson drama, and Blue Bloods is a big slice of strategic programming, I.e. , it is heavily geared toward an audience that stays home Friday nights to watch TV.

Is this Revenge vs. Scandal thing STILL going?

Can’t we just enjoy discussing the shows without the other being brought into it. I’m a fan of both but neither Revenge’s fans nor Scandal’s are doing any favours to them.

Also I would like to echo the question of what factors are legitimate and not just Fan Excuse Bingo. I would love to know at what point Bill or other admins on this site would say that the 18-49ers’ eyeballs are being dragged away if a 10.4 M for Walking Dead and 6-8 M for sports playoffs don’t cut it. Because that just strains credulity. What is the magic number , if 30 million 18-49er eyeballs are dragged for the premiere of a highly anticipated show or playoffs? Or is it never :p

    ____________________________________

I know I wonder the same things.. I give shows excuses then when I don’t even watch them.. Like the mentalist.. I don’t watch that. But for the life of me I have no idea why they would move that show to Sunday… Sunday is a very hard time slot MOST of the time for network tv..

  • Bumfuzzled

I actually like Betrayal but I fear they may not end the series properly much like CW failed to do with Ringer. I haven’t, and will never again watch a CW show. CW asked for loyalty for Ringer and left the viewers stranded. Please ABC, give your shows a proper send off.

P.S. speed up the story lines on Revenge. I feel like I’m wasting my time again like I did with LOST.

  • Dorothy5334

    Steve A
I see that @reidjr. But I’m not sure that the revenge story line is to blame. I think the odd direction of season two is the main culprit. I have to admit I liked Revenge. But it irks me with the Scandal bashing. I will stop bashing Revenge. I apologize for making the comment section unenjoyable for anyone

Thanks Steve.. There are some that will never learn Max aka Dante started this crap. Paris is just as bad.. Rob has now hit a new low.. These people make these ridiculous comments just to make them feel better. I don’t get why it does bit somehow putting other things down that you don’t like makes yourself better..

    ________

Really why.. I hadn’t known that.. My sister has Dish and watches many shows on there..

  • One eye

Football and walking dead hurts the other shows!

  • Shelby

I don’t really get the whole Scandal and Revenge thing. Both shows are clearly going to get renewed, Revenge being on season three and pulling fine enough ratings will reach syndication and Scandal is doing great, right? Personally I love Revenge and I don’t watch Scandal, but I don’t think my/everybody’s opinion on them should matter so much if both shows aren’t really in jeopardy(So you definitely shouldn’t post those opinions/statements in ALL CAPS LOCK, okay?).

  • Dorothy5334

    Paris,
Although I agree with you on many points of scandal it gets lost.. No one that watches it will take you seriously cause you go about singing it praises by bashing revenge.. Yes. Scandal isn’t about the affair.. If that was the case it would’ve been a hit from the get go. Mainly because you find out in ep1 in the pilot that she had an affair with the president..

You will get a lot more people to check it out and take you seriously if
    A. You stop using all caps
    B. Stop putting other shows down..

Scandal is a great show the more you try to berate other people and the shows you watch makes people not want to watch it..

  • Dorothy5334

    Shelby,
That’s because people hate REVENGE so much that it blinds them from seeing the truth.. That it will be renewed.. Just like last year.. For some reason I seem to believe that Paris and Max said revenge would be cancelled.. They were WRONG..
