Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    I hope ABC moves Revenge back to Wednesday at 10 PM.

  • Hel-luhr

    @dorothy

    I don’t think anyone can explain it either, they just belittle it when people offer theories lol.

  • John

    @Carmn The problem is that CBS already “shuffled” The Good Wife when it moved it to Sunday. I like the show a lot, but I think we’re near the end.

    @SJ Completely agree. I’m still waiting for the farewell season of The Unit. The Good Wife needs to start planning its endgame now.

  • KC

    @Riley
    1. You think that the Goldbergs is coming back, but not Super Fun Night?
    2. The only reason they move Grey’s and Scandal up an hour is to use Scandal as a lead in to another drama, not Revenge.
    3. Revenge should move to Wednesdays at 10:00.
    4. You have a lot of dramas on here… I don’t think ABC is going to do so many dramas.

  • SJ

    @Dan, CBSViewer

    Yes, we are all in agreement that CBS WILL go back to premiering three dramas next fall and I’m betting that one of them will be in a 9pm time slot (which is why I think they will move NCIS: LA to Sundays).

    If, by some miracle, Intelligence does survive, then Undercover Boss moves to mid-season, which is impractical because it’s the only show that has managed to survive Fridays at 8pm since Ghost Whisperer went off the air, or they cancel Hawaii, which seems improbable as they’d want 100+ episodes of it, plus it’s doing well for Fridays. I guess they could go back to three comedy hours, but I don’t see CBS giving up on that so easily.

    So in conclusion, Intelligence will likely meet the same fate as all other CBS mid-season dramas. As for Reckless, I agree with Dan, it will likely get paired up with Unforgettable in the summer, so that CBS can avoid airing repeats of low-rated – and by then, sure to be cancelled – Good Wife and Mentalist.

  • Patrick G

    @ Paul…Sunday is the new Friday.

    Sunday most certainly is NOT the new Friday, you moron! Most of the huge volume of viewers last night were simply watching all the football on 2 of the 4 networks, which explains why ratings were down so much on ABC and CBS. “Revenge” is doing fine against such male-heavy viewership on this night, though I DO wish ABC would cancel “Nashville” and move “Revenge” back to Wednesdays at 10. It was a better home for it there!

    As for “Once Upon a Time,” it is also holding up enough against 2 rounds of football, though “Wonderland is diluting its appeal. ABC needs to pull “Wonderland” NOW and save it as mid-season filler for “OUAT.”

    As for CBS, who cares?!

  • Movie12

    Thursdays for next year:
    8pm – Grey’s Anatomy
    9pm – Revenge or Scandal
    10pm – Scandal or Revenge

  • Walker

    Ouch at CBS. Good Wife and Mentalist probably won’t be around much longer.

  • Katherine

    I’ve seen several people suggest moving DWTS to sunday. What they are missing is that that is not possible because the current judging panel has to be in the UK for the UK edition on the weekend.

  • Bitch

    Revenge is great, awesome show, Revenge had to be against TWD, so it did well

  • Bitch

    yeah, Revenge wil do great on Tuesday , Revenge is A GREAT SHOW.

  • Bitch

    yeah, Revenge will do great on Tuesday , Revenge is A GREAT SHOW.

  • Bitch

    You’ll be fine, Revenge, Revenge is better and better

  • Michael

    Say so long to “The Good Wife” and “Betrayal”. (PS: Betrayal will be cancelled by…November lol). The Mentalist better take notice, or it will be next.

  • israelCD

    With the current format of no results show they can somehow film it on Mondays and vote and then the next wk start off with the results and then the show.. Somehow they could work that out to keep the current judging panel..

    All CBS shows started late on Sun in the Tampa market bc of football

    “Im guessing theres a delay on the cable ratings from last night..”

    No delay. Sunday cable ratings are usually posted on Tuesday morning.

    AMC must have done a rush deal to get early numbers for Walking Dead.
