Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

@ Paul…Sunday is the new Friday.

Sunday most certainly is NOT the new Friday, you moron! Most of the huge volume of viewers last night were simply watching all the football on 2 of the 4 networks, which explains why ratings were down so much on ABC and CBS. “Revenge” is doing fine against such male-heavy viewership on this night, though I DO wish ABC would cancel “Nashville” and move “Revenge” back to Wednesdays at 10. It was a better home for it there!

Do you really have to call him a moron.. Seriously, a lot of people think that.. Even though it’s not true, it doesn’t make him a moron..

  • niceguy

CBS should get rid of TGW and replace it with Unforgettable.
ABC should move Revenge to 10pm

  • Wow

The good wife actually gained viewers over amazing race, but lost 0.6 on 18-49. Suppose they were allw a thing twd by the sounds of things haha

  • MNP

The Good Wife has become like Fringe for me, a show that I root against.

  • Hel-luhr

    Why?

  • CBSviewer

    @ SJ

I think they will move NCIS: LA to Sundays

NCIS: Los Angeles is CBS’s #2 Drama and they own it. I can’t see the Show moving to Sundays now. It will maybe move to Mondays or Wednesdays but it’s unlikely.

  • Tim

I gotta admit, I used to enjoy OUAT but I’m getting bored with the Neverland story line. The less they focus on Henry, the better the show is.

  • david

Newsflash: All shows down because TWD had a monster 16 million viewers

  • Robert

    @Hel-luhr

Yeah, it’s probably belittling but I’m assuming that is the intention because it elicits more discussion. But at the end of the day, someone doesn’t watch a tv show because they choose not to. Yes, there may be reasons, but those reasons generally don’t have to be taken into consideration with statistics. Besides the syndication rule, the ratings game is relatively straight forward.

  • Rich

TWD is why the numbers are low everywhere. Repeat of season 3 finale at 8, season 4 premiere at 9 and “Talking Dead” at 10.

TWD BEAT Sunday Night Football. No broadcast show can beat SNF.

  • BigBrotherFan

I happen to think REVENGE will not be canceled. How much do you want to bet if it was a cable network would at least pick it up for one season of 13 episodes (a format that would do the show some good!). The show is getting confusing and I think with Aiden written back into the story it will continue to go lower. He does nothing but confuse and drag everything.

Those are horrible numbers for THE GOOD WIFE pretty much the only CBS show I think is half decent. I don’t get why more people aren’t watching this? I get it’s slow but the cast is one of the best on network tv.

  • BD

@TIM – It seems like they are going to wrap up this Henry Arc in Neverland soon, or that’s what it seems like. Either way I hope they get to more exciting things but no way can they drag this out for an entire season. Last season was a little slow to start off with as well but I think the last 15 episodes were very good.

  • Jon

There isn’t another drama except maybe maos that could do better in revenges timeslot.

  • Jon

@bigbrother…..actually Revenge has become a lot less confusing this year. It has simplified and dumbed things down to early season one type storylines. It has done exactly what the fans wanted.

  • Arysta

OUAT sucks ever since season 2 started. People are finally noticing.

  • Vanquished

Wow. 4 o’clock football beat Sunday Night Football?

  • Nathan

“THAT GIRL FROM REVENGE CAN’T EVEN WIN A KIDS CHOICE AWARD.”

LMAO! This is the funniest comment I’ve ever read on TVBTN.

  • Corey

Revenge is my all time favourite show and yes the numbers are low, but you are honestly missing out because that episode was amazing. It wont be cancelled for the reason that it is still doing well. Its winning the time slot and ABC still believes in it. If you don’t watch it your missing out!

  • Art

The Mentalist still came in 20th among all network broadcasts. Doing so opposite NFL Football, which got a monster rating, Major League Baseball Playoffs, and The Walking Dead, which also got a monster rating.. Overall it’s numbers are down, but so is everything on network. The same rules that applied 3-4 years ago don’t matter anymore. Network tv is clearly judged on a curve now.

  • Jake Brieno

American’s and their TVs. Over the top is an understatement. Usually, I see complaining as a waste of time, but people who comment about “Oh, no, that show is going down it ratings, it’ll be gone by spring.” Just shut your bloody mouth. It’s a TV show. If you enjoyed an episode more than the ratings suggest, go with your own feelings. Not some statistical babble. And for the hooligans who cant spell correctly. You illiterate sheep make the ‘American’s are stupid’ stereotype all more compelling.
