With most of  CW's Fall premieres now behind us, the early news is grim for Beauty & The Beast. The Cancellation Bear correctly predicted it would be renewed last season, but with a premiere rating of just a 0.3, he's moving it directly to "likely to be canceled" this season.

The non-Monday CW ratings last week were all in a range that suggests all of those shows will be renewed. The bear has rookie's The Originals and The Tomorrow People as "likely to be renewed" until he sees another episode or two's ratings. As always, predictions are liable to change quickly this early in the season.

The CW syndication gods will demand that Hart Of Dixie be renewed for a fourth season. Maybe it'll be a short one like Nikita's, or maybe not. The bear doesn't get into predicting episode orders. Crazy fans, and anti-fans, who'd like to predict in the comments are welcome to.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2014
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2014
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2014

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

The Bear needs to buy himself a computer or tablet. Predicting CW moves on live/same day broadcast ratings is pointless. No chance it doesn’t go the distance this season.

    @CrimTV

No , Cuz TTP with 0.9 and 2.36 milion and The Originals with 0.9 and 1.93 milion

and arrow get onley 0.9 in the so it also like TTP , The originals has supernatural..

Al, you need to buy a better monitor so you can actually read the post. All the bear’s predictions are, as noted in the post, for decision by the end of the season.

I’d be stunned if BATB was pulled before its 22 eps air this season, but it’s not coming back next season at that rating level.

And if you think that prediction is impossible using Live+Same Day ratings, the PR Jedi have worked their mind tricks on you.

Beauty and the Beast got low ratings last week cuz I didnt even know it was on and I missed it. If they would have mentioned the season primer more often and on other channels I would have seen the show. Instead of the last 30mins on yesterdays episode. Also I didnt know it was on Monday nights now.

I love seeing all those green smiley faces next to Supernatural, and to have it at the top of the list is just icing on the cake.

BATB & HOD will move to Fridays come the spring.

I predict HOD will get a FULL 4th and final season next year. The show is probably dirt cheap to produce (like Carrie Diaries), so the network probably makes a modest profit from it (via online streaming).

I’m curious to see how Reign will do.

  • Jazz

I never watch CW. I think I may be bit old for their demo but I caught Tomorrow People at Comic Con and actually liked it. I thought the production quality was very good. I hope it continues in the same vein as the pilot.

  • Jazz

Oh and also liked The Hundred, which premieres later some time.

    @
If Both BaTB & HoD move to fri, what will be on Mon?CW won’t put both new shows(The 10& Star -Crossed ) on the same night and The Voice will also have a spring cycle so whatever they put on Mon most Likley won’t do well.

  • Kate

I doubt they move BATB from the spot it’s in. The 9pm on Monday timeslot has always been cursed. 90210′s ratings tanked when they moved it there last season, they’re not going to risk killing another show by putting it in that slot. BATB will stay where it is until it’s canceled.

  • charmedcraft

HOD is this years Nikita, only getting renewed for syndication regardless of poor ratings.

  • anniesum

I love Beauty and the Beast! I think the acting is quite good and I love the story line. Just sayin’

  • Glaucia

    I don’t believe it. I love BATB.

  • Tom Shaw

Keep in mind, BATB is doing 0.3s now.

If any two of The Originals, TP, or Reign get backorders, BATB will have to move to Fridays for lack of room. I don’t think the situation will improve then!

I’m sorry, but BANB fans have to be the most delusional people on earth. No one is watching the show, just accept it. It’s not because of poor advertising, or anything else other than the fact that most people just aren’t interested. And to actually imply the BATB is actually competing with Sleepy Hollow is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I don’t care that they are in the same time slot, no one is not watching BATB because they are watching SH. In fact, most people watching SH would rather watch two weeks of a SH repeats than new BATBs.

It’s over Beast fans. Make your peace and say your good byes.

  • glover

Beauty and the Beast only likely to be canceled? For me it is certain to be canceled.

If Originals and Tomorrow People stays solid CW will be in a really good position. They would have The 100 and Star Crossed to choose to launch after The Vampire Diaries when Reign will probably fail. They could end the season with 6 hours of successful shows and would finally be able to get rid of their low rated shows.

How much do you think the CW factors in that the show will be pre-empted?

Last week it wasnt even shown in the NY/NJ area and next week it will be even worse with NY, NJ and Chicago CW affiliates all having to show the new episode on Saturday.

At some point the execs at CW have to know that when factoring in likely dimissal.

I’m sure they take it into account, but it’s not that big a deal, since there will be far more airings *without* pre-emption than with, and so any effects of pre-emptions get substantially diluted by the rest of the episodes’ ratings.

That said, BATB and HOD got the same adults 18-49 ratings this week with no football pre-emption as they did last week with one.
