NBC: The Voice is doing strong as always. The Blacklist is still falling around the same as Revolution last year, but nothing woeful so far.

CBS: HIMYM is doing well, and it’s nice to see 2BG and Mom increase, though Mom doesn’t seem that likely to be renewed; I’ll wait when Mike & Molly returns. Hostages appears to be really close for cancellation soon, or it’ll just run through all its episodes.

ABC: Castle is doing strong, and DWTS is about even with before. Nothing that special.

FOX: Bones is still decent after all these years. It’ll probably do strong on Fridays. SH also did great, and seems to be a big hit for FOX.

CW: Hart isn’t that great, and BATB seems to be a disaster all season long. Not a good night for them.

That’s a great result for Castle.

  • Jay

The two shows that succeed The Voice will always drop in the finals, always. No need for a headline. That idiot who hates Chicago Fire will naturally go on a crazy rant tomorrow.

    @ it’s funny

Yeah I realized the demo factor with “Castle” after I made that post. Thanks though. And I think I read here in an article that analyzed each network’s game plan for this season that for ABC the basic plan was leave everything where it is and just plug the holes [in the schedule] with new stuff. If the new stuff fails no harm no foul but if you moved a solid performer like “Castle,” with its loyal audience going with it and the new/replacement show crashes and burns you just screwed up a really good thing and your one solid, 8-11PM, stable night. This is especially true with a show like “Castle” that isn’t a super mega hit but never the less has been extremely stable for five plus years. Sometimes a slow burning candle is better than a super bright but fast burning one. I tend to agree. Leave “Castle” where it is.

Yay for SH adjusting upward. Looks like it has stabilized its ratings.

“With the solid ratings it has gotten in its time period, it was a no-brainer for FOX to renew Sleepy Hollow for another season.” — The HEADLESS HORSEMAN (or at least that’s what he would say had he still had a brain, mouth or head to speak with)

Blame canada for low ratings of cw haha, most piracy is overseas or cable shows. If they download they were not gonna watch on tv anyways…excuses are so funny

    @wednesday
I would love to see The Vampire Diaries or Arrow move to Mondays & have the show air a day earlier in Canada on Showcase like it’s doing with BATB & see if their ratings didn’t take a hit. Does Canada air a day early for either of those shows?

I doubt there’s much (if any) overlap between people who watch illegal torrents and people who watch live. Keep in mind that even if it doesn’t air a day early in Canada, the three hour time zone difference in the states means that the torrents will be up before the show airs on the west coast.

If the local ratings for west coast markets are drastically lower than the rest of the country, that might indicate that torrents are actually having an impact on the ratings for specific shows.

@Jay we don’t speak of Dante unless directly dealing with him. It’s an unspoken rule. Speaking of him might summon him.

  • Alex

Sleepy Hollow and The Blacklist keep rolling strong. Love it.

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

Also the torrent viewers would have to be made up of a sufficient number of Nielsen viewers to make a meaningful difference in the ratings.

I wonder if Nielsen has ever enquired among their panel if having the box in the house makes folks less likely to view by torrents? Though obviously it has does not seem to affect the choice to use DVRs.

I believe Criminal Minds used to air a day earlier in Canada, though I guess the argument could be made that their viewers may possibly be less likely to use torrents than Beauty & the Beast viewers.

The whole day earlier Canada smacks as Fan Excuse Bingo Bingo to the max.

    sleepy hollow is sooo boring

Interesting that the Blacklist is better than Revolution as far as viewers go and thats a good thing. But the ratings demo is not monstrous.
I dont think NBC should move The Blacklist next year, wait until these ratings stabilize. If they want to launch a new drama, do it on Tuesdays after the Voice.

Castle is not hurt at all by The Blacklist and is a consistent ratings performer, there’s much life it in still.

  • Joseph A

BTW ,, I like the idea of Hostages , BUT , the show needed to be more physical.

BLACKLIST is a great balance of cerebral drama, and brutal physical moments.
Still hands down my favorite new show of the season that seems to have gotten it just right.

  • Jay

@Caitlyn, you are right. Should not feed him.If I had the time I would try to post the first message. Would make him crazy!

  • Networkman

CBS has stopped the bleeding. And, @Wow, at Castle. Even though I’ve heard total viewers doesn’t matter, I have to give credit to the show for garnering more than The Blacklist.

  • UnderTheTable

Looks like certain shows need to start sending Nielsen money under the table. Then the ratings will suddenly start to get better. Of course, just have a preemption on a premiere date to skew the ratings on that day, and then you can just say the ratings will always be that! No measurement after the fact necessary.

  • Jules

    @Caitlyn

Lmao this Dante guy is like lord voldemort for Chicago fire or something? He who must not be named!

I’ve never seen really what he’s says but know more or less

  • Joseph A

Just realized what makes THE BLACKLIST work ,

The character played by James Spader (Ramond Red Reddington) has that DEXTER quality , of having a dark side but the appeal is how his vicious side is used to take out even more Dangerous persons to the general public, and how he protects the person he cares about.

James Spader has been openly killing the fiends he faces with the authorities turning a blind eye to his vigilantly justice. Its a great spin on a series that proved itself.

  • AllOfHerTw!st

That upward adjustment for Sleepy Hoolow probably made some haters’ heads explode.

    grey
Interesting that “The Black List” was adjusted down while “Castle” wasn’t considering that both had a one minute run-over from their lead-ins…

But the overrun into Castle was from a lower-rated show, or at least a similar rating in DWTS’s final half hour.

  • A.J.P.

    Yes for Castle!
